Chapter 489

Crystal was pregnant. The black-clad guard laughed mercilessly at Olive, even pushing her. Olive stumbled backward. Strong arms encircled her waist; Derrick held her close. He raised his head, his cold black eyes fixing on the guard. A single glance caused the guard to shiver, his gaze darting away, unwilling to meet Derrick's. Derrick gently lowered his gaze to Olive, murmuring, โ€œOlive, letโ€™s leave. Iโ€™ll take you to the palace to see Elvis and Crystal.โ€

The Royal Palace. Olive couldn't comprehend how Derrick gained entry into this heavily guarded fortress. His years of hidden influence, reaching into every corner, were beyond her imagination.

โ€œOlive, change into this maid uniform and go upstairs with the other maids. Elvis and Crystal are there. The reception starts in half an hour,โ€ Derrick instructed, handing her the clothes. โ€œOkay,โ€ Olive replied, entering the changing room. Maids inside were gossiping:

โ€œHave you seen the groom? Heโ€™s incredibly handsome!โ€

โ€œI heard his wealth surpasses his looks. He's immensely rich.โ€

โ€œThe second and third princesses are practically vying for his attention!โ€

โ€œHush! Keep your voices down! Todayโ€™s the Grand Princessโ€™s wedding; we must wish them a long and happy life!โ€

Even after changing, Olive could sense the maidsโ€™ underlying resentment. She suspected Elvis's appeal extended beyond the princesses to them as well. Over the years, Logan had amassed many women, bearing him numerous childrenโ€”sons and daughtersโ€”all concubines. The position of primary wife remained vacant. Olive knew Elvis's allure was undeniable; a global economic powerhouse, his status was extraordinary. No woman could resist such a man. Since arriving in Greenland, he seemed to have become even more popular. His romantic entanglements had blossomed. Thinking of this, Oliveโ€™s eyes gleamed.

Suddenly, someone shouted, โ€œEveryone out! The wedding is about to begin! Take the food upstairs to the Grand Princessโ€™s room.โ€

Olive exited. Someone presented her with a bowl of medicine, saying, โ€œThis is pregnancy medicine for the princess. She must drink it while itโ€™s hot.โ€

Pregnancy medicine? The words stunned her. Why would Crystal need it? Olive smelled the medicine; it contained expensive herbs used to nourish a pregnancy. She considered a startling possibility, then dismissed it. No, it couldn't be. Even if Elvis had slept with Crystal, he wouldn't allow her to become pregnant. Yet, why the medicine?

Olive carried the bowl upstairs. Entering Crystalโ€™s room, she heard vomiting from the bathroom.

โ€œPrincess, morning sickness is common in early pregnancy. Please bear with it,โ€ a maid said. โ€œThe cook has prepared delicious food; you can eat later. For now, rest; your body is tired.โ€

Olive saw Crystal over the toilet bowl, clearly experiencing morning sickness. Having experienced it herself, Olive knew instantlyโ€”Crystal was pregnant.

Crystal finally stopped vomiting, rinsed her mouth, and walked out, halting abruptly upon seeing Olive. Even as ashes, Olive would be recognizable.

โ€œPut the medicine down and leave,โ€ the maid instructed.

Crystal, lips pursed in a smug smile, dismissed the maid. Only Olive and Crystal remained.

Crystal smiled, โ€œOlive, you came. I knew you would.โ€ She placed a hand on her still-flat belly, provocatively adding, โ€œI have some news. Iโ€™m pregnant, with Elvisโ€™s child!โ€

Crystalโ€™s pregnancy was confirmed; the child was Elvis's. She was waiting, expecting a confrontation. Olive's expression turned cold; then she let out a mirthless laugh.

โ€œSo what?โ€

Crystalโ€™s smug expression faltered. She expected anger, grief, jealousy; instead, she received this chilling indifference.

โ€œOlive, donโ€™t you understand? Iโ€™m pregnant!โ€

โ€œYour pregnancy is your concern, not mine.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s Elvisโ€™s child!โ€

โ€œItโ€™s between you and Elvis, nothing to do with me.โ€

Crystal felt deflated. Olive showed no hurt.

โ€œOlive, I know you were also pregnant with Elvisโ€™s child, but you aborted it. Elvis takes his children seriously. He considers me and my child his treasuresโ€”the Augustine family's eldest grandchild. I should thank your son for paving the way!โ€ Crystal produced a sonogram. โ€œLook, my baby is healthy, soon to be born to loving parents. Weโ€™ll live happily ever after. Youโ€™re a thing of the past, forgotten!โ€
