Chapter 567: Princess Olive Is Really Awesome
Liam held a white chess piece. He glanced at Olive, who wore baggy trousers and a white shirt. Her safety-lock earrings caught his eye, complementing her long, pure black hair and milk-white skin. Olive held a black piece. Liam smiled. "Princess Olive," he said, "your clothes and ornaments from Visionary are exquisite. For instance, I've never seen those safety-lock earrings." As King of the Gold City, he'd seen many rare items, but never these.
Olive blinked mysteriously. "Of course you haven't; my aunt had them custom-made."
"I know many top jewelry designers, but I don't know your aunt," Liam replied.
Olive laughed. "She's amazing, but I can't mention her. I'm afraid it would scare you, King Liam."
Liam, understanding her reluctance, didn't press.
"Visionary is paradise," Olive continued, straightening her chest with pride. "The girls all dress like meโmy mother designs our outfits, and my aunt designs our accessories. She said girls are born beautiful."
Liam listened silently. Visionary, once near Greenland, had mysteriously disappeared about a hundred years ago. Olive's cooperation with him now served some purpose.
"Princess Olive," Liam said, "you seem unconcerned about the Arthur family. Aaron's dowry was delivered this morningโdozens of boxes of high-quality jewelry. The marriage seems imminent."
Olive dropped a piece, smiling calmly. "King Liam, don't worry."
"I also heard you visited the Arthur family last night and met with Trixie," Liam added.
Olive nodded. "King Liam is well-informed."
"Isn't it rash to put all your bets on Trixie?" Liam asked, furrowing his brows.
Olive looked at her piece. "I have no regrets. I chose Trixie for my reasons. I don't need to suspect anyone. I believe her."
Liam gazed at her clear, intelligent, determined eyes. "Okay, then I'll wait and see," he conceded.
They resumed their game. Soon, Liam's confidant whispered in his ear, causing him to freeze. He looked up at Olive. "Princess Olive, congratulations. You've won the bet."
Olive put down her piece. "Inform me."
"Aaron sent the dowry," Liam said, "but the Arthur family's backyard is on fire. Trixie set her boudoir ablaze, left a letter, and disappeared."
Olive raised a delicate eyebrow. "The letter's contents?"
"Trixie scolded Aaron, listing his romantic affairs over the years. She said she'd rather die than marry him. She exposed everything. Now everyone is talking about Aaron's crimes."
Olive wasn't surprised. Derrick Domino's choice of Trixie had hinted at her value. She picked up her black piece, a few strands of hair falling to partially cover her face. "Prince Liam, I won't be leaving today. I'm preparing a meal; a friend is coming."
"Your friend? Who?" Liam asked.
Olive didn't look up. "Don't worry, King Liam; she'll be here soon."
Footsteps sounded; Sadie entered with someone. "Princess Olive, your guest has arrived."
Olive looked at Liam. "King Liam, my friend is here!"
The person stepped forward. "Princess Olive, King Liam, I'm here."
Liam's eyes narrowed; it was Trixie! Olive had brought her to his palace after Trixie's actions. Liam, previously neutral, was the most capable of seizing imperial power with Olive's help, but he hesitated. Now, with Trixie's presence, he risked becoming the royal family's enemy. He looked at Olive, smiling sharply.
"You had no advantage, yet you stirred up the entire royal family with one person. You're amazing!"
Olive lowered her eyes, taking his chess piece. Her voice was sonorous and powerful. "King Liam, there's no turning back. You must cooperate with me. I've paved the way; why hesitate to seize imperial power?"
Liam looked into her sharp, brilliant eyes.
