Chapter 579: Alone With Her
Their plans had changed, catching them off guard. "King Liam," Thomas said, "how did Aaron know I'm here? I think someone deliberately leaked the secret." Liam nodded. "Yes, it seems a mysterious force is at work behind the eldest Princess." The source of this mysterious power? The Royal Palace.
Aaron escorted the old lady inside. Logan was in a meeting, so Aaron waited. Logan was in a foul mood lately. His last attempt to marry Aaron to Trixie had ended disastrously. Not only was the marriage unsuccessful, but Thomas had also vanished. Public opinion of the royal family had plummeted; Thomas and Trixie were nowhere to be found. Logan was desperately trying to locate the father and daughter. When Aaron learned Thomas had appeared in a small, shabby house, he saw a chance at redemption and immediately pursued him. Instead of Thomas, however, Aaron brought back an old woman, whom he rudely threw to the ground.
In recent years, Anabelle had treated the old woman like her own mother. Even after disappearing for over twenty years, she'd left a substantial sum of money for her care. But a friend had absconded with the money, leaving the old woman destitute and depressed. Looking at the familiar palace with clouded eyes, she trembled, murmuring, "Let me go back. My daughter… she's coming to see me. My daughter is very powerful. When she returns, I can live a good life again…"
Aaron, waiting for Logan, muttered irritably, "Be quiet!" "Let me go back," the old woman pleaded. "I don't want to stay here. My daughter is…"
Before she could finish, a beautiful, melodious voice interrupted, "His Royal Highness, it's been a long time." Aaron turned to see Olive. His eyes lit up. "Princess Olive, why are you here?" he asked.
Olive approached, her lips curving into a smile. "I came to the palace. The King summoned me to discuss the date of my engagement to King Liam."
"You're getting engaged to Liam?" Aaron questioned.
Olive nodded, "Yes."
Aaron started to speak, but the old woman on the floor coughed and interjected, "Listen to me, my daughter needs to see me. Please let me go."
Olive smoothly interjected, "His Royal Highness," her clear gaze falling on the old woman. "Who is this old woman? With that cough, I hope she doesn't have tuberculosis; it's contagious."
Aaron's expression changed. He gestured to two guards. "Hurry and remove this old woman. Bring her back after my father's meeting."
The guards swiftly dragged the old woman away, her protests unheard by Aaron. Only Olive and Aaron remained. He moved towards her, reaching out to hug her. "Princess Olive, why are you insisting on marrying Liam? Is he better than me?"
Olive deftly avoided his embrace, saying sternly, "His Royal Highness, please be more respectful. This is the Royal Palace!"
Aaron, captivated by Olive's flawless appearance, felt a surge of possessiveness. He considered this the perfect opportunity. They were alone; he could do as he pleased. His eyes gleaming with lust, he moved closer, saying, "Don't marry Liam, marry me instead. I like you, I've liked you for a long time. Be my princess, I promise to treat you well."
Olive recoiled into a corner, her gaze firm. "His Royal Highness, don't approach. If you come closer, I'll scream."
Unafraid of her threat, Aaron declared, "Princess Olive, who are you threatening? Scream! The louder the better. If someone enters, I'll say you seduced me, then tell my father I want to marry you!"
He lunged at her. Olive swiftly punched him in the face. The sharp pain made him cry out, clutching his face. "Princess Olive, how dare you!"
The door burst open. "His Royal Highness, Aaron, are you in here?" It was Luana, Logan's other favorite wife—a young woman roughly the same age as his daughter, and notably fertile. She had been pregnant the previous year and was now five months pregnant. Logan, proud of his virility, had thrown a lavish party after her childbirth to celebrate.
Upon seeing Olive and Aaron, Luana's expression hardened. She pointed at Olive and spat, "Bitch, are you trying to seduce His Royal Highness?"
