Chapter 580: She Used To Be Anabelleโs Entire World
Luana entered, radiating dominance and arrogance. Olive regarded her indifferently, then subtly curved her red lips. "Molly, you are Lord Logan's favorite wife, yet you seem nervous around His Highness, Aaron."
Luana, realizing her overreaction, quickly recovered. "Yes, I am the Lord's favorite wife and, naturally, His Royal Highness's stepmother. I am responsible for his well-being."
"His stepmother?" Olive repeated, her clear gaze fixed on Luana and Aaron. Aaron's face paled. Under Olive's intelligent scrutiny, he felt exposed. "Luana, be respectful. It's not a servant girl; it's Princess Olive."
"Princess Olive?" Luana's jealousy and hostility flared. "So, you're the Princess Olive of Visionary. I imagined you pure and innocent, but I never expected you to trifle with menโto be involved with two brothers!"
Olive's annoyance deepened. She frowned. "Even if I were, it's none of your concern. You should focus on the child you're carrying."
Luana, rendered speechless by Olive's composure, clutched her stomach. "My stomach hurts! Princess Olive, you've angered me so much! Do you know how much the Lord values this child? If it's harmed, you'll be doomed!"
Olive responded calmly, "Stop the theatrics. Save your energy for the master's arrival. You can resume your act then." Olive turned and left.
Aaron attempted to follow. "Princess Olive!"
Luana intercepted him. "Your Highness, what is your relationship with the Princess of Visionary? Everyone says you're captivated by her. Is it true?"
Aaron, restrained, tried to deflect suspicion and subtly push Luana away. Seeing his waning interest, Luana stamped her foot. "Aaron, where were you earlier? Wasn't I satisfying enough?"
Aaron quickly covered her mouth. "Please be quiet! I beg you."
Luana snuggled into his arms, acting spoiled. "Then stay with me. You haven't been to the palace in a long time. The baby is over five months old; pregnancy isn't easy."
Olive swiftly exited. In the hallway, Sadie whispered, "Princess, the old woman is in that room. I've dismissed the guards."
Olive nodded. "Good." She entered the room where the terminally ill servant girl lay on the cold floor.
The old woman looked at Olive. "Who are you? Help me see His Royal Highness! They know I'm here to see the eldest princess; they want to kill me!" she cried. "Don't kill me! I'll tell you everything! The eldest princess...Anabelle Midas. Catch her! I'll cooperate and bring her to you. She agreed to see me."
The servant girl, desperate and fearful, revealed everything. Olive, having orchestrated thisโinforming Aaron and securing the old woman's removal from Liam and Thomasโknew Aaron was more interested in her than the servant.
Olive checked the old woman's pulse. "Your death is near; you have less than fifteen minutes."
The servant girl, panicked, clutched Olive's dress. "I don't want to die! Save me! I want to see my daughter!"
Olive calmly stared at her. "Aunt Annabelle cannot see you. I will send someone in her place."
"Who are you? I want Anabelle!"
"Aunt Annabelle is the Princess of Greenland. She's always been on the run and has few relatives, so she loves you dearly," Olive said softly. "As a daughter, she owes you nothing. As a mother, you still try to shield yourself at death's door. How cruel! Have you ever shown her a mother's love? Are you worthy of calling her your child?"
Olive gently but firmly removed her sleeve from the old woman's grasp, stood up, and said, "You did save Anabelle. Rest assured, she will claim your body and see it properly laid to rest." Olive left.
Tears welled in the old woman's eyes as she watched Olive depart. She remembered Anabelle, young and happy, calling her "Mother." She used to be Anabelle's entire world.
