Chapter 652: Good News
This huge piece of good news must be shared with Mrs. Robert. The driver needed Mrs. Robert to see that her son had finally woken.
Damien looked at Joyce. โThen what do you want to do next?โ he asked.
โWhat next? I donโt understand,โ Joyce replied, feigning ignorance.
The corner of Damienโs lips froze, his handsome eyebrows turning cold.
โSo, you want to sleep with me for one night to pay for the ten billion?โ
โYes,โ Joyce said. โMr. Robert has been pestering me. Isnโt that what you meant? Anyway, your bed skills were actually very good. Our first time was pleasant. We can have another happy time.โ She looked at his confused expression. โMr. Robert, whatโs the matter? Are you angry?โ
Damien had long known this woman was heartless. Heโd even entertained expectations, a notion he now found ridiculous.
โJoyce, didnโt you say that what we shared was just a one-night stand? Youโre interested in reliving that night, but Iโm not. You want to climb into my bed and sleep with me again? I think youโre just dreaming. Youโre delusional!โ Damien withdrew his hand, standing up straight. He didnโt want to look at her; she only angered him. He left the room.
Joyce quickly recovered her composure, chasing after him. โMr. Robert, wait for me!โ
Security guards stopped her. โMaโam, do you have an invitation?โ
โNo,โ Joyce shook her head.
โIโm sorry, but you canโt go in without one.โ
โBut he didnโt have an invitation either. Why did you let him in?โ Joyce pointed at Damien.
โThere are no rules for Mr. Robert. He can enter the corporation whenever he wants,โ the guard replied.
Joyce winked playfully. โThatโs a coincidence. Weโve known each other for many years. You can let me in too.โ
Damien stopped, turning to look at her. The guard approached for instructions. โMr. Robert, this lady says sheโs an old friend and wants to come in with you.โ
Damien stood tall and elegant, gazing down at Joyce. โI donโt know her. Let someone throw her out.โ
Joyce felt they had officially become enemies.
โMaโam, Mr. Robert says he doesnโt know you. Please leave immediately, or Iโll have someone escort you out,โ the guard warned.
Joyce was furious. โIโm not leaving. Go ask your CEO. Iโm your CEOโs mother-in-law. Heโll definitely greet me when he finds out Iโm here.โ
The guard thought she was crazy. โMiss, please donโt play games. If youโre our CEOโs mother-in-law, then Iโm his long-lost brother. Donโt cause trouble. Leave now.โ He moved to forcibly remove her.
Joyce felt embarrassed. She looked at Damien, who was staring back, clearly pleased by her predicament.
A deep, magnetic voice cut through the tension. โWhat is happening here?โ
Joyce looked up to see her son-in-law, Elvis. The security guard rushed to his side, reporting, โCEO, this lady is causing trouble without an invitation. She lied, claiming to be your mother-in-law.โ
Joyce assessed Elvis, concluding her daughter had excellent taste. โAre you Elvis?โ she asked.
Elvis approached respectfully. โAunty, why are you here? You should have called; I would have come down to meet you.โ
The guard was shocked, his jaw agape. Could this woman really be the CEOโs mother-in-law? he wondered. He suddenly began to sweat, remembering his earlier boast about being the CEO's long-lost brother.
Joyce ignored the guard, addressing Elvis with a smile. โI wanted to surprise you. Do you like my surprise?โ
โDo I like it? I love it! Please, letโs go upstairs.โ
โYeah, fine.โ With Elvisโs escort, Joyce walked into the hall, stopping near Damien. Her watery eyes flashed as she pretended to stare suspiciously at Elvis.
Elvis, sensing the tension between his father-in-law and mother-in-law, straightened his back. โAunt, I donโt know who this is; Iโm not with him.โ
Damien rolled his eyes.
Joyce, satisfied with her son-in-lawโs loyalty, nodded. โI donโt know this gentleman, but heโs awfully angry. He acts like I abandoned him years ago. Anyway, letโs go.โ
Elvis pressed the VIP elevator button, and they swiftly disappeared.
