Chapter 701 The Jewelry
Alpha escorted Annabelle from the palace; her hand remained in his until she quickly withdrew it. He stopped, questioning, "What's wrong?"
Annabelle, in a floral gown, stood gracefully in the breeze, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. She looked at Alpha and said, "It's okay. Thank you for today, but I won't be going back with you."
Alpha smiled. "I'm not joking, Annabelle. You're still my wife."
"Then let's find time to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau for a divorce. After so many years apart, our marriage has long expired," Annabelle replied.
Alpha pursed his lips, remaining silent. Joyce then approached, saying to Annabelle, "Let's go."
"Okay," Annabelle murmured, following Joyce to the car.
Olive emerged from the Royal Palace. "Mummy, Aunt Annabelle, you two go ahead. I'll wait for Mr. Augustine."
Joyce said sternly, "Olive, we need to return."
Olive, noticing Joyce's serious expression, asked, "Mummy, what's wrong?"
Joyce whispered, "Olive, Grandma is here!"
The mention of Grandma made Olive's heart skip a beat. Every princess in Visionary was raised under Grandma's strict yet loving discipline. She was respected and loved by all. Joyce, having been raised by her, and Olive, having lived with her since childhood, both held a deep affection for her, despite her strictness.
Olive hadn't expected her grandmother's swift arrival. Worse, her grandmother intensely disliked Greenland and its people. The overthrow of Visionary had resulted in a bloody apocalypse, leaving the elders, including their parents, as victims.
Olive, sensing something was amiss, nodded. "Mummy, Aunt Joyce, let's go back together."
The three women entered the car and sped away. Even at a distance, Annabelle felt Alpha's gaze lingering on her.
"Annabelle! Annabelle!" Joyce called out repeatedly.
Annabelle, startled, asked, "Joyce, what is it?"
Joyce eyed Annabelle suspiciously. "Annabelle, you seemโฆoff. Are you hiding something? You've been acting strangely since your last visit to Alpha's. Did he bully you that night?"
Annabelle blinked, gently nudging Joyce. She quickly shook her head. "No, I slept in the guest room. He was in the master bedroom. When I woke up, he was gone. Joyce, don't overthink it!"
"That's odd. The 'carnivorous wolf,' Alpha, actuallyโฆ," Joyce muttered, unconvinced.
Annabelle remained silent, simply tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. Joyce noticed her earlobes reddening unnaturally, further fueling her suspicions that Annabelle was concealing something.
Meanwhile, Elvis left the palace to find Olive already gone.
Peterson informed him, "Master, Miss Hart departed. She seemed to have urgent business and didn't wait for you."
Elvis rushed out only to find her gone. He instructed Peterson, "Let's go."
As their Rolls-Royce sped along, it began to rain heavily.
Peterson announced, "Master, it's raining."
Elvis looked out to see a torrential downpour. Suddenly, a figure darted into the path of the car.
Peterson slammed on the brakes. "Master, we hit someone!"
Elvis sighed. "Check it out."
Peterson found a slender girl collapsed on the ground, her forehead bleeding and unconscious. He called out to her, but she didn't respond.
Elvis joined him, observing the unconscious girl. He whispered, "Get her to the hospital."
Peterson noticed a necklace around the girl's neck. Elvis' pupils constricted upon seeing itโthe necklace was familiar, bearing the engraving 'Augustine.' He recognized it instantly; he had given it to Pamela. He recalled being saved from a snowy death in Los Angeles over a decade ago by a girl who had warmed him with her body heat. That girl held a special place in his heart. But Pamela had found him with the necklace. Now, it was on this girl.
"Wait," Elvis said abruptly.
Peterson stopped. "Master, what's wrong?"
Elvis picked up the necklace. The jade pendant was genuine. Could Pamela have given him a fake? Perhaps the girl before him, not Pamela, was his real savior. The girl's sudden appearance was indeed a mystery.
"Bring her back to the villa and call the private doctor," Elvis corrected.
