Chapter 19
Kyle patted Faith’s hair, smiling lightly. “You’re one of the few people in this world who are good to me. I can’t just stand by and watch you get hurt.”
“First, let me help you with your pain…”
With that, Kyle stood up and took an acupuncture kit from his pocket. His fingers manipulated the golden acupuncture needles deftly. Within seconds, the needles pierced several of Faith’s acupuncture points.
Faith felt warm energy flooding her body, suppressing the pain. Within ten minutes, to her surprise, the agonizing pain had almost completely disappeared.
Kyle removed the needles and chuckled. “Almost there. You should recover within two days.”
Faith’s face lit up; she happily waved her hands. It had been a painful experience being beaten so badly. Furthermore, since Kyle’s arrival, she’d tried to avoid him, wanting to show him only her best self.
Kyle smiled gently. “Starting now, don’t worry about anything. Just rest, and leave the rest to me.”
Seeing Kyle’s gentleness, Faith felt happy and content. A light blush appeared on her face as she nodded.
Faith lay on the bed, gazing at Kyle. Her heart felt touched and warmed. After chatting for a while, Kyle got up and left.
Several people waited outside the hospital room. Mike stood respectfully beside Elisa; Anthony and Maria stood aside, heads bowed, their expressions fearful. They might have had the courage to demand answers from Mike, but Elisa's presence changed that. She was the head of the Rivas family, the queen of the Redonian Underground. The Rivas family was powerful and influential in Kerdonia; she could destroy their family in seconds. The difference in power was immense.
“Mr. Archer, I know everything that happened. Whatever you wish, the entire Rivas family is at your command. No caveats.”
Elisa looked at Kyle with love, admiration, and respect. His healing skills were beyond her imagination. Cultivating a relationship with him would greatly benefit her and the Rivas family. Gaining his acknowledgment would be worth any sacrifice.
“I understand. I’ll contact you if I need you.”
Unfazed by Kyle’s coolness, Elisa nodded and produced a card. “Mr. Archer, I know you don’t care for worldly possessions, but you must take this. It’s one hundred million dollars. It’s not much, but it should cover your daily expenses. My word stands: the Rivas family will do anything you require.”
Kyle didn't refuse. Refusal would only make him appear arrogant. Since Elisa had put it that way, there was no point in acting high and mighty.
“You should attend to Mr. Rivas Senior. Call me if there are any issues.”
Elisa bowed slightly and left, Mike following. Kyle’s frigid gaze fell on Anthony and Maria. Their pride was gone. Anthony’s domineering attitude vanished; he glanced at Kyle fearfully, as if afraid to even look at him the wrong way. With Elisa gone, they dared not speak.
“Mr. Archer,” Anthony began, but Kyle interrupted.
“Faith is your biological daughter, isn’t she?”
“Of course, Faith is our daughter,” Anthony confirmed, slightly confused. “Is this how you treat your biological daughter—by sending her into danger?”
Kyle shook his head in frustration. “Good job, you two. Even after your daughter was beaten, you still…” Maria started to weep while Anthony tried to explain.
Kyle raised his hand. “You don’t need to explain. I know you sold out your daughter for benefits, and I understand the Curtis family’s situation. However, this isn’t a valid reason. I’m only saying this once, so listen carefully: from now on, take good care of Faith. Ensure she suffers no further injury or damage, mental or spiritual.”
Terrified, Anthony shuddered at Kyle’s cold words and quickly nodded. “Don’t worry, Mr. Archer. I know what to do.”
