Chapter 36

Mentioning the Snow White Love jewelry set again brought a flash of unwillingness to Belle's eyes. It was clear she wanted the jewelry badly. In fact, the set seemed tailor-made for her. She felt that only someone like her deserved to own it. But no matter how much she wanted it, she couldn't afford the Snow White Love set, even if she bit the bullet.

"Belle, it's just jewelry. You'll have it sooner or later. Even owning something as expensive as that set is only a matter of time. Charles will definitely buy it for you."

Hearing this, Belle nodded in satisfaction, her pride transforming her expression.

"You're right. That Snow White Love set might cost one million dollars, but I, Belle Cotton, will own it eventually."

When Chloe heard the price, her eyelid twitched. She finally understood why Belle was so fixated on it—it was something she couldn't afford right now. People often obsessed over what was just out of reach. If it had been something Belle could easily buy, she would have taken it home on the spot without hesitation.

Still, Chloe continued to reassure her.

"To Mr. Cole, one million dollars is nothing. With his feelings for you and his background, whether it's 100 million or even 500 or 800 million, as long as it makes you happy, he wouldn't hesitate. Belle, you have no idea how much I envy you. You're truly blessed."

In some ways, these words were pleasant to hear. Although Chloe's words were clearly meant to flatter Charles, and Belle knew Chloe must have benefited from him in some way, Belle didn't mind. Besides, Belle wasn't worried about Chloe stealing Charles; Chloe's looks and status didn't compare to hers.

Belle chuckled lightly. "Speaking of the Snow White Love set, Kyle tried to put on a show in front of me. The more I think about it now, the more ridiculous it seems. You wouldn't understand—it was infuriatingly funny."

As Belle's secretary, Chloe knew Belle had gone to Sky Achiever Tower with Kyle. But she didn't know the details. She was certain, though, that it wasn't for anything romantic.

Piqued by curiosity, Chloe narrowed her eyes and asked slyly, "Really? Belle, tell me about it."

"Oh my," Belle said with a laugh. "That Snow White Love set is the centerpiece of Heaven's Jewels' store at Sky Achiever Tower. It's a treasure I didn't even dare to touch. And do you know what Kyle did?"

"What did he do? Did he buy it?" Chloe asked, full of curiosity.

"Buy it! Kyle? How could he?" Belle restrained her laughter, mindful of her image. "He said he was going to buy it. Impressive, right? Pretending like that right in front of me. But you know what? If you're going to put on an act, at least make it convincing. He told me I couldn't afford it and asked me to leave, then handed a card to the clerk and pretended to swipe it. Do you know whose card it was?"

Chloe shook her head. She genuinely didn't know. She had already looked into Kyle's background and found nothing unusual. He didn't seem to have connections with anyone of note.

"Faith went to see Kyle, and he used her card to act like he was going to buy the Snow White Love set. But in the end, the clerk told him there weren't sufficient funds on the card, and Kyle was left standing there, completely dumbfounded. You should have seen his face—it was priceless! Trying to show off in front of me, only to embarrass himself completely. Is Kyle just asking for trouble? I think prison must have made him stupid. He's always"

Belle's words were full of disdain, but her eyes betrayed amusement and anger. The purported use of Faith's card felt like a betrayal to her.

"Perhaps it's the best decision you've ever made. A man like him would only have dragged you down."

"Faith went to see Kyle, and when Peter found out, he beat her so badly that she ended up in the hospital. I told Kyle about it, and do you know what he said?"

"Pathetic. She's head over heels for Kyle, and she got beaten up because of him. And Kyle? He acted like it was none of his business."

Even though Belle hated that Faith liked Kyle, her indifference toward both Faith and Kyle made her hesitate. She thought Kyle was just a cold, selfish man. She had completely forgotten how Kyle had treated her back then—with loyalty and sincerity. She had also forgotten what had made Kyle fall for her in the first place. Kyle likely never imagined that Belle would become the person she was now.
