Chapter 44
Kyle looked at Anthony, who stammered, unsure what to say. Kyle said directly, “I’ll handle any trouble the Curtis family faces, but you’d better take care of yourselves.”
Anthony’s eyes lit up, brimming with tears as he exchanged a look with Maria.
“We’re saved!” Maria gasped, tears streaming down her face.
Anthony’s expression was full of gratitude. “Mr. Archer, thank you. You’re our family’s savior.” Kyle felt nothing at Anthony’s thanks. He merely smiled faintly, nodded, and ignored them.
Meanwhile, at the Rivas family estate, the lights blazed, and the mood was joyous. Nearly all key members of the Rivas family who could attend were present. Elliot’s recovery was a momentous occasion, treated with utmost seriousness. Although many didn't care much for Elliot's health, they knew they needed to be mindful of his mood.
“Mike, is everything settled at the hotel? Did Mr. Archer agree to attend?” Elisa smiled, but anticipation filled her eyes. To Elisa, Kyle was her greatest benefactor, and his attendance was paramount.
Although Kyle had said Elliot only had five years left, at most, it was better than the risk of him dying at any moment. Elliot, who suffered daily, could now enjoy tea and conversation; this was invaluable.
Therefore, Elisa didn’t dare ask for more. Everyone faced mortality eventually. She was content with the five years she had left to care for her father.
“Don’t worry, Ms. Rivas. Mr. Archer keeps his promises. The venue is Rivas Corporation’s Imperial Hotel, so everything will be fine,” Mike replied. “We should leave now; it’s almost time. Being late to our own banquet wouldn’t be good.”
Elisa nodded and turned to Mike. “Mike, I’ll host the banquet. I plan to have Enzo pick up Mr. Archer. They’re about the same age, and a friendship between them would benefit Enzo and our family.”
Mike thought for a moment and nodded. “Enzo is your favorite brother and the one Mr. Rivas Senior painstakingly mentored. He’s steady and reliable. Having him pick up Mr. Archer shouldn’t be a problem.”
Elisa nodded at Mike’s approval and called to a young man, Enzo. Enzo Rivas, in a suit and leather shoes, was handsome and looked every bit the privileged young man. He approached with a respectful expression and polite nod. “Sis, Mike. What do you need?”
Elisa smiled gently. “Later, you’ll pick up an important guest—our father’s savior. Treat him with utmost care and don’t upset him. Understand?”
Enzo nodded firmly. “I understand. Anyone who saved Father’s life is a benefactor. I know what to do. I won’t give him reason to be unhappy.”
“Good. Do your best,” Elisa said. “If you do well, I’ll reward you handsomely.”
Enzo lowered his head, a twinkle in his eye. “Sis, I’m still young and haven’t done enough. I’ll work harder.”
“You’re capable, and it’s time to take on more responsibilities. Father’s health is better, but his time is limited. I want to cherish this time. So, prepare yourself,” Elisa said with a sigh. “Mr. Archer is our benefactor, a good man. Stay humble and reliable, and he might offer guidance—it would greatly benefit you.”
Her message was clear: Elisa would soon pass leadership of the Rivas family to Enzo. After all, she was a woman, and some still looked down on Rivas Corporation because of it.
