Chapter 54
Belle nodded in agreement after listening to Chloe’s analysis. “I think so too,” she said. “Kyle knows nothing except bluffing.”
“To be honest, I was shocked. I really thought Kyle went all out and bought that Snow White Love for Faith, but boy, was I fooled! One day, I’ll bring Faith to see the authentic Snow White Love at Heaven’s Jewels. Can you imagine her expression then?”
Chloe immediately covered her mouth and giggled, picturing Faith’s ashamed and flustered reaction. She praised her friend, “Belle, you’re a genius! No matter how much Faith loves Kyle, she’ll eventually feel ashamed of him and dump him! He’ll be so dejected!”
“Look, I personally know Mr. Rivas’s assistant, Luca Bruno. I’ll ask Luca about it. If Kyle doesn’t have much of a relationship with Mr. Rivas, we don’t have to think twice—we’re going to call him out. He won’t be able to take it anymore!”
Belle nodded, casting a look of contempt at Kyle and Faith before arrogantly returning to her seat. In her view, Kyle and Faith posed no threat; she could easily manipulate them.
At that moment, Kyle managed to send Enzo away. Without greeting anyone else, he turned to Faith with a soft smile. “Faith, don’t be upset about those girls. But, if you don’t mind, I could totally make them—”
“No, don’t,” Faith quickly interrupted, stopping him from causing a scene at such an important event attended by prominent figures in Kerdonia. She didn’t want to get him into trouble.
She added, “I just feel bad watching the way they treated you. I know better than anyone else how much you’ve helped them. I hate that they’re so ungrateful.”
He patted her head. “It’s fine. It’s all in the past. I’m glad I get to see their true colors. Don’t worry; soon, they’ll be crying.”
Kyle’s eyes flickered with conflict. If Belle hadn’t harassed him, he would have easily put the past behind him; he wasn’t petty or vindictive. Yet, Belle wouldn’t stop pestering him, trying to prove her superiority. If so, he would teach her a lesson.
Squinting, he spotted Chloe and had an idea. Greed and envy were human nature, especially for those who felt overshadowed by successful friends. It felt weird to be reduced to someone's minion.
Chloe must have been upset with Belle because, technically, she was a beautiful woman on par with Belle, yet Belle had achieved more in life.
Early on, Kyle had noticed Chloe’s jealousy and frustration toward Belle. It might seem improbable that Chloe could replace Belle, but it would be easy for Kyle. He wondered how Belle would feel if their statuses were reversed.
Faith noticed Kyle deep in thought. She covered the back of his hand and whispered, “I know you’re mad, but you should stop thinking about them. They will pay the price for being ungrateful.”
“I’m not mad at all,” he clarified. “I just thought of a fun idea.”
Faith couldn’t tell what he was thinking. She sighed. “I’m not vain. You don’t have to do anything to protect my ego.”
“The jewelry set might be a counterfeit, but I’m sure you’ve put a lot of effort into it. It looks so exquisite. That alone is enough for me.”
“Well, I don’t like that you spent all that money on me. I gave you that money so you could live a better life. If you spend it on me, what will you do?”
Faith misunderstood Kyle, but for a good reason. After all, he had just been released from jail. He couldn’t have possibly afforded the Snow White Love. Although Kyle was capable of making money, building such wealth took time.
He read her mind and confessed, “That jewelry set is Snow White Love. I renamed it ‘Love for Faith’ because I think it suits you perfectly. I bought it from Heaven’s Jewels in Sky Harbor Tower for 100 million dollars. You can authenticate it if you want.”
Stunned, her jaw dropped. “Huh? This jewelry set is authentic?”
She never doubted his words, but she couldn’t guess the source of his money. Besides, it didn’t make sense to spend 100 million dollars on jewelry, no matter how rich he was.
“Where’s the money from? Is it from the Rivas Corporation? Well, I’m sure they wouldn’t turn down your request for money since you saved Mr. Rivas Senior’s life.”
