Chapter 70

Belle and Chloe, lost in their own fantasies, refused to accept reality. Only their imagined outcome would suffice.

"You can't act recklessly, even if you want to expose Kyle now," Chloe said. "Ms. Rivas said what she said. Even if everyone knows the truth, they won't say it aloud. They have to consider the Rivas family's dignity."

Chloe, equally frustrated, sighed, "So, we have no choice but to let Kyle bask in the glory for now."

Despite her words, Chloe's gaze, as it flickered towards Kyle, betrayed a mix of emotions. She was starting to question his character, wondering if he was truly the person she perceived him to be. These were merely doubts, however, which she would keep to herself, especially from Belle.

Meanwhile, Belle gnashed her teeth, nearly snapping her wine glass. "Damn it! To consider the Rivas family's dignity, I have to watch that repulsive man act pretentious! But I won't sit idly by. I can't let him deceive Faith. I'll find her and tell her the truth. She needs to know how repulsive Kyle is."

Belle's dislike for Kyle stemmed from his intimacy with Faith. She was consumed by jealousy at their closeness. The depth of Belle's feelings, however, remained unacknowledged.

Silence descended upon the venue. After Elisa's announcement, no one bid on the calligraphy. Kyle, however, showed no surprise or disappointment; he'd anticipated this outcome.

Perhaps Kyle's calligraphy had genuinely attracted wealthy patrons. Or perhaps they were simply showing support for the Rivas family. Maintaining a good relationship with the Rivas family was crucial for anyone wishing to remain in Kerdonia. Desperation shouldn't lead to a quarrel with the Rivases.

More importantly, Elisa had requested a favor from everyone present, making the lack of bids worthwhile. She alone knew she hadn't lost anything by purchasing the calligraphy and incurring the debt of a favor.

Elisa felt relieved when the bidding ceased. The wealthy business owners present were at the apex of Kerdonia's social hierarchy. Elisa wouldn't have dared to make such a request if prominent Goldrat Valley figures had attended. The auction wouldn't have been so peaceful otherwise.

"Very well," Elisa smiled, looking at the assembled guests before turning to Kyle. "100 million dollars isn't much, Mr. Archer. I trust you'll accept it."

They were talking about cash. While many at the venue possessed shares or real estate, fewer than five could casually produce 100 million dollars in cash.

Elisa didn't believe she'd lost out; in fact, it was a significant win. Kyle owing her a favor could prove a lifeline.

"Ms. Rivas," Kyle stated calmly, "it's important to maintain timeliness. Has Mr. Rivas confirmed the transfer of the 100 million dollars?"

Elisa shook her head immediately. "Don't worry, Mr. Archer. I'll handle the transaction personally today. You can check it later. Please"

Kyle nodded politely and left the stage. There was no need to pester her or loudly announce his own wealth.

At that moment, all eyes were on Kyle. The confusion and disbelief in their expressions were unmistakable. Belle and Chloe were stunned. Faith, on the other hand, radiated admiration and joy. Ultimately, the expensive calligraphy was purchased, and all was well that ended well.
