Chapter 71

What mattered was that Kyle was safe and happy. That was all Faith cared about.

“You scared the life out of me, Kyle. I thought you were going to be humiliated for sure. I was sorely tempted to dash to the stage and give the calligraphy back,” Faith said, her lingering fear obvious.

Kyle chuckled. “With me around, you don’t have to worry about anything.”

Faith nodded sweetly, feeling a deep sense of security. Her eyes brimmed with love as she looked at Kyle, though a touch of guilt remained. “I’m sorry, Kyle. I didn’t trust you enough. From here on out, I will…”

“You don’t have to blame yourself. Another lady in your shoes probably would have fled,” Kyle said with a smile, dismissing her apology.

Everything went smoothly after that, and the party drew to a close. Many people wanted to meet Kyle afterward; Elisa's willingness to support him spoke volumes.

However, Kyle turned down all of them. He hadn't brought his business card and felt no need to interact. His cold, aloof attitude displeased some business owners.

Just then, Enzo approached. “I’m truly sorry, Mr. Archer. It’s my fault. I’ve prepared a car for you. Please allow me to take you and Ms…”

Kyle waved it off. “That won’t be necessary. We’ll just take a stroll. Go ahead and tend to the other things.”

Kyle then took Faith’s hand and walked away. She grinned, gazing into his eyes with a mesmerized expression.

They were such a lovely couple, exuding happiness and bliss, making everyone envious.

Enzo watched their retreating figures and clenched his fists angrily. It wasn’t just their affectionate display; more importantly, Kyle had shown him blatant disrespect.

Enzo was the heir to the Rivas family. How could Kyle show him so little respect? No one in Kerdonia dared to be so rude to him. He wasn't a pampered heir; he was the heir to the wealthiest family in Redonia. People fawned over him, vying for his favor, and even prestigious elders showed him deference.

But with Kyle, it was different. Kyle's cold, indifferent look clearly showed a lack of respect.

“Why does he have to be so pretentious? Damn him for disrespecting you, Mr. Rivas,” Luca said frustratedly, standing beside Enzo. Enzo's eyes were cold, but he suppressed his anger, shaking his head gently. “He still saved the old man’s life. That’s enough.”

“It’s just a coincidence. He doesn’t strike me as capable. When he encounters a truly powerful opponent, he’ll be dead as soon as…” Luca’s words trailed off. An idea sparked, and after a moment, he nodded. “You’re right. A single strike from a master, and Kyle would be dead.”

At that moment, Belle and Chilor exited the venue. Enzo had taken things relatively well, but they had seethed with rage throughout the evening. Belle's expression turned livid as she recalled Enzo's earlier conversation with Kyle.

“It looks like Kyle didn’t respect you today. His life would have been forfeit if it weren’t for your family,” Belle said.

“Mr. Rivas,” Belle sighed, “What an ungrateful man. The Rivas family has given him more than he deserved. He treated you like a servant earlier. I saw it, and I was furious on your behalf.”

Anyone, especially someone of Enzo's social standing, would want to avoid humiliation in front of a pretty lady.

Enzo’s gaze lingered on Belle and Chilor. While not as beautiful as Faith, they were attractive enough to garner attention.

“I’m sorry you had to see that, Ms. Cotton. He likely wanted to impress himself; we’ll just play along. Wouldn’t you agree?”

Belle replied, “Why, of course. The Rivas family is thoughtful and considerate, and everyone knows it. However, don’t you think your family has…”

“You’re too kind, Mr. Rivas,” Belle continued. “The Rivas family is too sentimental. However, that shouldn’t be a reason for your family to be taken advantage of simply because someone did you a favor. Wouldn’t you agree?”
