Chapter 73
“What are you two doing?” Belle’s eyes blazed with anger as she watched Kyle protect Faith. She retorted icily, “What’s the matter? Do you own the street? Can’t I be here? You spent sixty million dollars to acquire a painting that belonged to me, then created your own artwork and sold it for one hundred million. I’m here to see how capable you really are. Is there something wrong with that?”
She continued, her voice dripping with sarcasm, "You haven't even paid me the You might’ve tricked Faith, but you can't trick me. Sixty million dollars, right? Everything you did today was to attract my attention. Am I right?”
Kyle frowned, his patience wearing thin. “Why do you always live in your own world? You could have verified the payment; instead, you chose to confront me in person.”
“I told you I paid you, but you wouldn’t believe me anyway. You love antagonizing me. But when I use tricks on you, you don't like it.”
Belle’s expression hardened, then quickly softened. “Let me tell you something, Kyle. Stop acting so cocky. I’ve seen through your petty tricks. You’re riding the Rivas family’s coattails. Do you deny it?”
Turning to Faith, she sneered, “Was Kyle boasting about how great he is? You must be the only idiot who believes his crap. If you don’t believe me, ask him if he has the guts to tell the truth!”
Facing Kyle again, she demanded, “Just admit you did everything for me! Then I might retain some respect for you.” Kyle shook his head. Belle’s imagination was frightening; how had he not realized how wild it could be?
He responded helplessly, “Have you been sick? Did you really say I did everything for you? How shameless can you be?”
Belle’s anxiety flared at his insolent tone. She angrily jabbed a finger at him, disregarding her image. “You’re the sick one! Do you think I don’t know about your insignificant connection with the Rivas family? They repaid you today. What tricks do you have left? You used a counterfeit Snow White Love set to fool Faith. That’s bad enough, but you also tried to make me feel regretful and jealous! You knew about the Rivas family banquet tonight. You made money and gained prestige. It’s a scam! Can you fool me?”
She turned to Faith triumphantly. “Only a simpleton like her would be this loyal to you. No one else would fall for your tricks. You were in prison for six years and broke. How could you afford the Snow White Love and spend sixty million dollars to make her happy?”
Faith exploded. “Listen, Belle. If Kyle is fooling me, I’d gladly be the simpleton. And how does any of this concern you? You’re divorced. There’s nothing between you. Can’t you see you’re being a pest?” Faith’s calm defense of Kyle shocked Belle. Belle glared at Faith, her eyes nearly popping out. She gnashed her teeth, regarding Faith as insignificant, unworthy of Kyle.
Faith was about to continue, but Kyle rubbed her shoulder. “It’s pointless to argue with her. Belle lives in her own bubble. Let her think what she wants. It’s time to leave. We shouldn’t let her ruin our day.” Faith blushed at his gentleness and nodded.
Belle’s face and neck flushed with rage. They were flaunting their affection to spite her.
Chloe tugged at Belle. “We’re on the street. Your reputation is at stake. They may have little social standing, but you don’t want to risk yours.”
Belle took a deep breath, controlling her temper. Chloe smiled at Faith. “Can I talk to you for a moment?”
Faith hesitated, but it would give Kyle a chance to explain. Otherwise, Belle would pester them endlessly. Kyle gave Faith an approving look. She went aside with Chloe. He chuckled and gave Belle a nonchalant look. “It’s time to put everything on the table.”
