Chapter 72

Enzo regarded Delle with an inscrutable expression. “Why do I get the feeling you know Mr. Archer quite well, Ms. Cotton?”

Belle’s expression flickered. They had shared a marital bed. How could she not know Kyle well? Their marriage, however, was a blip in her past. She wouldn't mention it.

“I know him slightly, if at all. I just can’t understand something, Mr. Rivas. Kyle was recently released from prison. How is it that the Rivas family already owes him a favor?”

Belle needed to understand the situation to gauge Kyle's relationship with the Rivas family. Otherwise, her plan would be jeopardized.

Enzo visibly frowned. He was unaware of Kyle's recent prison release and fell into deep thought. If Kyle could be imprisoned, it meant he lacked influence. His only assets were some medical skills and a fortunate encounter with the old man.

His confident demeanor returned. Initially, he'd considered Kyle a formidable opponent, but now he saw no threat.

Enzo, however, wasn't one to reveal his feelings openly. "This concerns the Rivas family's private matters, Ms. Cotton. I'm not at liberty to divulge any information."

“You make a good point, though. While we repaid the favor, we must maintain our dignity. If that’s all, I’ll take my leave, Ms. Cotton.”

Belle received her answer, nodding gently as Enzo departed. She stood taller, radiating confidence. As far as she was concerned, everything was proceeding as planned.

“See? Mr. Rivas confirmed our suspicions. Kyle and the Rivas family only have a superficial connection. However, we'll wait before acting. We must respect the Rivas family.”

“If we're too aggressive, they might retaliate. We'll play the waiting game. We're in no hurry; time is on our side.” Crior agreed. “Yes, let’s play it safe, Belle. Once the Rivas family finishes repaying Kyle, they'll stop supporting him. Then, we can act.”

“I was intimidated by Kyle's arrogance, but I feel better now. We can teach him a lesson in front of Faith without worry.” Belle’s lips curled into a cruel smile. “Let’s target their relationship. I’ll seduce him and dump him again. Faith will be devastated and leave him.”

Belle threw her head back and laughed. “I’ll do it in the next few days. I want to see them plunged into despair!”

Chloe’s blood ran cold. “Wonderful! Knowing how much Kyle loves you, he’ll return like a dog. Faith will cry her eyes out!”

“Delle, I just saw Kyle and Faith. Shall we bother them a little?”

Belle nodded. “I should see them and prepare for the future.”

They agreed and drove off in search of Kyle and Faith.

Kyle and Faith strolled happily along the street. Her beauty drew envious glances.

“Let’s get a car. You're attracting too much attention,” Kyle said mildly. He wasn't afraid, but the attention bothered him.

Faith giggled. “Anywhere you want, as long as I’m with you.”

It was blissful to stroll with Kyle. She had once been betrothed to Belle; this happiness was a secret treasure. Now, Belle was between Faith and Kyle, a source of genuine happiness.

“You’re much more cheerful than before,” Kyle observed her happy expression.

Faith nodded warmly. “I’m happy to be with you.”

Suddenly, a black commercial vehicle swerved toward them, aiming for Faith.

Kyle instantly shielded Faith, who screamed. He saw Belle and Chloe emerge from the vehicle. In a moment, he knew it was intentional. The knowledge fueled his anger.

(The final sentence is unintelligible and appears to contain gibberish. I have omitted it.)
