Chapter 98
Upon hearing Kyle's remarks, Henderson fell into deep thought. He knew Moses well—a business legend who had single-handedly elevated the Khan family to unparalleled success. His authority was feared throughout the Rhineland. How could such a man have poor judgment, or send Kyle on a suicide mission?
He pondered, a thoughtful crease forming on his brow. Perhaps Moses had other plans, or perhaps he'd grown disillusioned with the Khan family, wanting Kyle to safeguard his life's work.
"Is it possible Grandpa entrusted Heavens Group, and even the Khan family, to you, hoping you'd bring order and secure the family's future?"
Kyle's eyes widened. He hadn't expected Henderson's quick wit.
"I'm quite impressed. You haven't forgotten Mr. Khan Senior's teachings. Do you really believe someone like me, chosen by Mr. Khan Senior, can be easily manipulated by you and the Khans?"
"It's no surprise the Khan family is in crisis. You've been so busy fighting each other, you've lost sight of what's truly important."
Kyle recalled Moses' special care for Henderson and stated flatly, "I'll give you three days to decide whether to stand with me or against me. I don't need you, but I want to put Mr. Khan Senior at ease. And you don't have any special talents anyway."
"If you think I can't win, continue fighting me alongside the Khan family. I've extended a significant olive branch. Reject it, and don't expect mercy next time."
Kyle dismissed Henderson with a wave. "You may leave."
But Henderson remained, his gaze fixed on Kyle. He couldn't shake the feeling Kyle was right—working under him might be better than being a Khan minion.
Henderson knew he'd never be a core member of the Khan family; he'd always be an outsider. Rumors had left him helpless and resentful, but powerless to retaliate. The Khan family's reputation and influence demanded careful moves. Too much activity would attract external threats and internal strife.
Henderson's expression turned solemn. "I don't need three days. I can't say I'll fully join you, but for Grandpa's sake, I'm willing to give it a shot. And you'd better not be lying to me or exploiting Grandpa to manipulate me. That would be a grave insult, and I'll stop at nothing to settle that score, even if it means trading my life for yours!"
Kyle nodded approvingly, especially at Henderson's final statement. "Your loyalty and familial love for Mr. Khan Senior are commendable. He clearly still holds a special place in your heart."
"You should explore Kerdonia before returning. I'll handle the Khan family. Your mission is to gather as much incriminating evidence against them as possible."
Henderson frowned. "How do you intend to deal with the Khan family?"
"If they can be spared, I'll spare them. Since they're Mr. Khan Senior's descendants, I'll try not to kill them," Kyle stated flatly.
Yet, Henderson felt Kyle's cold, tangible killing intent. It was subtle, but undeniable. Kyle was no ordinary man. His nonchalant remark about sparing the Khans' lives was chilling. Killing seemed trivial to him. How could such a person be easily controlled?
Henderson rose. His gaze toward Kyle had changed. "One more question, Mr. Archer. How did you find out about my condition?" It seemed unlikely Moses would share such a thing.
"Medicine and poison are two sides of the same coin. I'm proficient in both, and I noticed it when you showed up injured."
