Chapter 134: The Call of Worry

Sierra was elated, and the first person she thought of was Jonathan. Instinctively, she pulled out her phone to share the good news, but as she was about to dial, she remembered their current relationship. Her smile faded, and she slowly put the phone away.

Stepping out of the research institute, her sense of loss lingered when, unfortunately, Kason appeared.

“Sierra!” Kason approached with a bouquet of roses, exuding a polished air. Seeing him, Sierra reflexively gagged, her mind filled with images of Kason’s repulsive white flesh and his deeds.

Confused, Kason, still thinking himself considerate, approached. “What’s wrong? You look terrible.” As he reached out to touch her head, Sierra dodged and slapped his hand hard. “Don’t touch me!” Disgust was unmistakable in Sierra’s voice.

Kason’s smile froze, and a sinister look flashed in his eyes. “What’s gotten into you?” Realizing she had lost her composure, Sierra stepped back, feeling nauseous. “I just did an experiment; I feel sick, and your cologne is too strong; it’s making me uncomfortable!”

While not exactly flattering, her words softened Kason’s expression. He said, “I’ve been busy these past few days and haven’t reached out. I heard you’ve been at the lab every day. How’s the experiment going?”

Sierra nodded without going into details but asked, “What have you been busy with?”

Kason seemed caught off guard by her question, pausing before responding, “Just business stuff. Anything wrong?”

“Just a bit frustrated because the experiments aren’t going smoothly; I thought you might have something fun to share.”

Kason almost blurted out that he had indeed found something amusing; he had discovered a new ‘toy’ that could really take a beating, fiery and with a delightful scream. Unfortunately, he didn’t fully trust Sierra, or else he would have invited her to join this game. But he had other plans.

“Don’t worry, there’s a party in a few days that you might like. Shall I pick you up?”

Sierra looked up tiredly and said pointedly, “I hope it’s genuinely interesting and not just minor trouble like before.”

“Of course not! Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!” Kason assured her earnestly. Sierra gave a reluctant smile, seemingly convinced by his words.

Seeing Sierra like this, Kason couldn’t help himself; he wanted more contact with her. “Where are you headed now? Want to grab some food?”

Having gleaned useful information and not wanting to spend another moment with this scumbag, Sierra simply said, “I have class!”

“Those classes don’t matter; nobody will trouble you for missing them.”

“I want to go!” Sierra lifted her gaze; her look brooked no argument.

Kason should have been annoyed, but for some reason, seeing that look in Sierra’s eyes only tickled his heart; he couldn’t…

Chapter 134: The Call of Worry (continued)

“Alright, I’ll take you there.” Kason courteously opened the car door, and Sierra hesitated but eventually got in.

Arriving at school, Sierra noticed people were looking at her strangely. What now? Just as she was about to check the school’s forum on her phone, she overheard a conversation: “I heard she had a falling out with Mr. Yeager. She hasn’t been to his classes these past few days.”

“Mr. Yeager must have finally seen her true colors and dumped her.”

“Mr. Yeager didn’t show up for class today either. Heard he’s sick.”

Sierra froze. Jonathan was sick? Just then, another piece of gossip reached her ears: “I heard Mr. Yeager isn’t sick; he was in a car accident.”

“Really?”

“Yes, I recognize Mr. Yeager’s car. When I was driving in today, I saw his car smashed up, and he wasn’t even in the driver’s seat, just traffic cops at the scene.”

“No way! Is Mr. Yeager badly hurt?”

“Who knows!”

Sierra couldn’t listen anymore; she turned and ran towards the school gate, dialing Jonathan’s number as she ran. But until the call disconnected, there was no answer from his end.
