Chapter 244: A New Beginning

“Kid, don’t get the wrong idea. I’m not as obsessed as Finn, but you understand, right?”

Autumn straightened, standing like a soldier awaiting inspection. At that moment, Sierra truly realized just how legendary her Mr. Jonathan was. Jonathan walked straight toward her, his gaze locked solely on Sierra, completely ignoring everyone else. His eyes quickly scanned her from head to toe, as if checking whether she had been bullied in his absence.

Sierra took the initiative. “I’m fine. Madam Finn is my mentor, and this is my senior.”

Jonathan raised an eyebrow in mild surprise. He had considered pulling some strings to help Sierra, but he knew she wouldn’t accept that, so he had left things alone. He had expected Salem to recognize her value, but hadn’t imagined they would go so far as assigning Madam Lily as her professor. And judging from Sierra’s expression, she was very pleased with her new senior. Remembering her saying she had never had many friends, Jonathan’s expression softened. He nodded at Autumn.

“Nice to meet you, kid. I suppose I should be calling you ‘senior.’ Thank you for looking after Sierra.”

“You’re welcome… senior,” Autumn, usually quick-witted and talkative, stammered like a nervous schoolgirl. Sierra found it amusing. So this was what it looked like to meet an idol.

Since the day was ending and Jonathan had come to pick her up, Sierra didn’t continue exploring the campus. She said goodbye to Autumn and left with Jonathan. Watching them walk away together, Autumn couldn’t help but think that they looked perfect together. At first, she had been like Finn, believing no one could be worthy of Mr. Jonathan. Now, she had to admit—she was completely wrong. And honestly? It wasn’t even Sierra clinging to him. From the way he looked at her, from the way his entire focus was on her, it was clear—Jonathan Wynn was utterly devoted to Sierra Xander. Autumn decided she would rub it in Finn’s face later. Not only had she met their idol in person, but she had even spoken to him. Finn was going to be so jealous.

She rarely talked this much, and there was a bright, excited look in her eyes. Seeing her like this, so full of life, Jonathan felt something stir deep in his chest. He wanted her to always be like this.

“It’s a shame I didn’t get to meet my professor today,” she said. “He’s out on a trip and won’t be back until next week.”

“I haven’t seen him in years,” Jonathan replied. “I’ll visit him when he returns.”

Unlike many other professors, Madam Lily was open-minded and forward-thinking, someone Jonathan had always respected. Sierra talked nonstop all the way to the car, only pausing once they were seated. Then she turned to look at Jonathan.

“Jonathan, I’m really happy. I love it here.” This place was so much better than Northwind University. She was truly grateful she had met Jonathan. And even more grateful that she had made the right choice. Jonathan reached over and held her hand.

“The past is over. From now on, everything waiting for you will be good.”

“Yeah.”

That night, Sierra shared her experience with Dickson. She knew he had his reservations. After everything he had been through, he was still wary of strangers.

“If you want to give it a try, I can ask Mr. Jonathan to help you enroll in school?”

Dickson was silent. He didn’t like being around too many people. But hearing about Sierra’s day, about how happy she sounded, he found himself wanting the same thing. Humans were social creatures. Deep down, no one truly wanted to be alone. After a long moment, he finally spoke.

“Then… I’ll trouble Mr. Jonathan.”

It was his way of saying yes. Sierra knew how difficult it was for Dickson to take this step. She smiled.

Chapter 244: A New Beginning

“You can always talk to me. Anytime, anywhere. We’re family, Dickson. You’re my brother.”

Dickson was barely twenty. She wanted him to have what every young person should have: a world of his own, a future to look forward to. Sierra’s words finally put Dickson at ease. He had no one left but her. Because of her, he wanted to be stronger, braver, someone she could rely on too. Mr. Jonathan might be powerful, but Dickson was family. With Jonathan handling things, Sierra wasn’t worried about Dickson’s enrollment.

Over the next few days, she quickly integrated into her new group. It didn’t take her long to notice their individual personalities. Erwin was the easygoing one; warm, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. Everyone respected him. Azure was quieter, more aloof. But when it came to research, his passion burned brighter than anyone else’s.
