Chapter 106
“Our streaming platform is top-notch; don’t let those folks at VibeCast fool you. They offered you five hundred thousand, right? We’ll offer a million a year. What do you think?”
A million? Lemira was tempted.
“Sounds good,” she replied. “Let me think about it and I’ll get back to you.”
After hanging up, Lemira left the study. Orion was lounging on the couch, still on his phone. The voice on the other end said, “Mr. Everhart, we’ve already informed PixelStage executives.”
Hearing footsteps, Orion quickly ended the call and looked up at Lemira. “There’s some fruit on the table.”
Lemira’s throat was sore. She picked up the plate. “PixelStage just called. They agreed I don’t have to stream every day, and they’re offering a million-dollar signing bonus.”
“They see your potential; securing you early is a win for them.”
Lemira was elated. “Now I don’t have to worry about tuition and living expenses.”
Since leaving the Langston mansion, she hadn’t used her credit card or spent a dime from her savings.
Orion’s gaze was profound. “Is there anything else you want to do?”
Lemira found his question odd. “Not really, right now. Making money solves my biggest problem.”
After finishing her fruit, Lemira returned to her room to rest.
Thaddeus emerged from the bedroom. “Orion, you’ve paved the way for Sweet Lemon; she won’t have a hard life. Isn’t it time for you to move on?”
Orion’s gaze darkened slightly. “I’ll wait until she starts school.”
Thaddeus felt a headache coming on. “You can’t fall for her, though. She’s great, but she’s not the one for you.”
That car accident years ago made it impossible for them. Lemira currently didn’t know who Orion really was, but if she did, things wouldn’t be as peaceful.
If only that accident hadn’t happened.
The next day, Lemira agreed to sign with PixelStage. After all, her decision to stream was to earn money. PixelStage sent an invitation: “There’s an online influencers’ gala tomorrow night. Come and have fun if you’re free.”
Lemira glanced at the invitation. In her past life, she had wanted to attend, but Alaric had taken Evelina instead. Her past life was full of regrets.
Attending such events usually required evening gowns. After leaving the Langston mansion, she had only brought basic clothes.
Lemira went next door, but Orion and Thaddeus were out. Odd. A note on the table, scribbled hastily, read: “Sweet Lemon, we’re out for a bit!” Typical Thaddeus handwriting. She’d go to the mall herself.
Arriving at her usual shopping center, spending her own money felt empowering.
“Lemira, what are you doing here?”
Turning, Lemira saw Jessica. “Just shopping for clothes,” she replied with a smile.
“Are you going to that gala tomorrow night?”
“How did you know?”
“Just guessed. My brother’s working the event and mentioned Sweet Lemon might be there.”
Lemira didn’t hide it. “You here alone?”
“Just got out of the internet café; my parents ban me from gaming. Let me help you shop; got nothing else to do.”
Lemira didn’t refuse, and they headed to the top floor.
Seeing the brands, Jessica remarked, “These clothes must be expensive.”
“Don’t worry, I can afford it!”
Lemira walked into a boutique, and a salesperson approached. “Ms. Langston, what can I do for you?”
“Lemira’s cards are all frozen; how did she get money to shop here?” Evelina and Judy walked in, smirking triumphantly.
