Chapter 109

Lemira overheard Evelina boasting but remained unfazed. After all, she was financially independent. With a composed expression, Lemira told the salesgirl, “The size is fine; I’ll take it.”

Judy sneered, “Lemmy, just these two items? Is that doctor you’re seeing too stingy to spoil you?” Evelina’s lips curled into a triumphant smile.

Holding her shopping bags, Lemira retorted, “At least I’m spending money I earned myself, not depending on anyone.”

“Lemmy, depending on family is happiness, you know. Why fight with them? Wouldn’t it be easier to apologize and return? I envy your loving family,” Evelina said.

Jessica interjected, “Evelina, cut the crocodile tears. If it weren’t for your meddling, Lemira wouldn’t have left home. This is all your fault!”

Evelina chuckled, “But her brothers prefer me; they find me more well-behaved and sensible. There’s nothing I can do about that.”

Lemira had no interest in further argument. In her past life, she would have been furious, fighting over such trivialities. Now, she didn't care about her brothers' preference for Evelina.

After leaving the store, Jessica fumed, “Keep gloating, but you’ll never be the real Langston heiress. You’re a fake.” Evelina’s teeth clenched in anger. She vowed to oust Lemira and become the true Langston heiress.

Later, Jessica vented, “Lemmy, how can you tolerate Evelina’s bullying?”

“If I’m not angry, why should you be?” Lemira replied calmly.

“But you’re the real sister! I thought it was your attitude, but it’s Evelina’s schemes.”

Lemira said softly, “It’s not entirely Evelina’s fault. My brothers prefer a more compliant sister, and Evelina knows how to play to that.” In her past life, she’d given much, only to be ignored. Evelina was simply better at superficial charm. Since her brothers preferred that, she didn't mind.

Jessica sighed, “Now I see why you started streaming—to make money, right?”

“My channel’s popular now. I won’t be short of money, don’t worry!”

Remembering Lemira’s streaming success, Jessica felt reassured. “Does your brother know you’re the streamer?”

“He didn’t before. Now, I’m not sure.” After last night’s streaming battle with Alaric, Lemira suspected he might have recognized her. She hadn’t tried to hide it, especially since signing with PixelStage and gaining popularity. Even if her family found out, they couldn't stop her now.

That evening, Lemira’s stream was featured on PixelStage’s front page. She was in high spirits, engaging in battles and providing commentary. Her professional and exciting gameplay attracted many fans. Lucian watched, hearing her relaxed, cheerful voice. He felt a pang of loss.

Lemira had been away from home for so long, never looking back, never using a single dollar from her family.
