Lemira looked at her with a smirk. “Can’t afford it, huh?” Jessica snatched back the dress Lemira had dropped earlier. “If you can’t afford it, stop trying to show off.” Evelina’s eyes were red with anger. “Lemmy, didn’t you say you wouldn’t use a dime of your family’s money?” She couldn’t believe Lemira could afford such expensive clothes.

Lemira pulled out her card and handed it to the manager. “Charge it; I’ll try these on in a bit.” Judy, her sidekick, protested loudly. “We saw them first! How can you sell them to her? We are premium members!” The manager replied politely, “We usually go by who places the order first. Besides, Ms. Langston may not have a membership card, but she’s still the Langston heiress, a VIP in our store.”

“She’s been kicked out!”

The manager, unflinching, replied, “It’s just a temporary disagreement. After all, you can’t sever blood ties.” Lemira was, after all, the only biological sister in the Langston family—a fact that made her uncomfortable. She didn’t want to be bound by so-called blood relations! She took the dress and headed to the fitting room.

Outside, Evelina tearfully called Alaric, but only his assistant answered. “Why isn’t Alaric picking up?” “The boss got smashed last night; he’s not up yet.” Drunk? What was she supposed to do now? She was instantly annoyed. Why did he have to get drunk at a time like this? She absolutely couldn't lose to Lemira.

Evelina had no choice but to call Lucian, who answered quickly. “Eve, what’s wrong?”

“Why are you crying? Who’s bothering you?”

“Lucian, I was out shopping and ran into Lemmy. I thought, since she ran away from home without any money, she’d be broke. But it seems like she’s not short on cash. I didn’t want her spending someone else’s money, so I tried to pay for her things, but I didn’t have enough. She seemed a bit upset.”

Judy quickly added, “Lemira’s really being too much, flaunting her money in front of Eve, saying Eve is living beyond her means.”

“Lemmy wouldn’t mean it like that.” Evelina gave her sidekick a meaningful look.

Lucian, puzzled, asked, “Where did she get all that money?”

“I’m not sure,” Evelina replied.

“Alright, I got it. Come back home, don’t get into a conflict with her.”

With a reluctant sigh, Evelina hung up, kicking a mannequin in frustration. Lucian would’ve definitely handed her a large sum of cash to settle the bill.

Judy asked, “So, did Lucian give you a hefty sum to buy clothes?”

“No, he told me to go home.”

Evelina couldn’t swallow her pride, but then her phone beeped with a message from Lucian: [I’ve transferred the money to you. Pay for Lemmy’s stuff too.]

Satisfied, Evelina returned to the store. Just as Lemira emerged from the fitting room, Evelina strutted in, clearly having secured the funds. Evelina crossed her arms smugly. “Wrap up all these clothes for me; I’m taking them all.” Lemira remained unfazed; she really didn’t care. Evelina turned to Lemira with a bragging tone. “Lucian just transferred a hefty sum to me, told me to spend it all, or don’t bother coming…”
