Chapter 132  Lucian’s face lit up with a touch of satisfaction, “I just knew that deep down, you still came about me‘  Lemira turned her head to look out the window, finding the whole situation bitterly ironic  Once, she had desperately sought the attention and recognition of her brothers. She had given her all in her past life, only to receive nothing. This time around, she couldn’t care less, and yet, Lucian was the one clinging to her  Upon arriving at the hospital, Lucian was rushed in for a checkup.  Lemira was about to leave when the doctor stopped her, “You’re the patient’s family, right? Please, talk to Mr. Langston. His stomach issues need ongoing medication to prevent turning into something as serious as stomach cancer  Lemira’s expression was cold, “If he doesn’t care about his own health, what can anyone else do?”  Lemira, how can you say such cruel thing? Do you think Lucian got this way for any reason other than us?” Alaric and Evelina hurried  Lemira tossed the medical records into Alaric’s arms, “Guilt–tripping me right off the bat? With all this filial piety, how come you had no clue Lucian’s condition was worsening? How do you even call yourself his brother, living under the same roof yet oblivious to his deteriorating health?”  Alaric was left speechless, “I just didn’t notice.”  “What a great excuse. Instead of finding justifications, maybe you should spend that time convincing Lucian to follow his treatment.”  After giving them a piece of her mind, Lemira directly left the hospital.  Alaric’s chest ached in exasperation, “Lemira’s getting too big for her boots.”  Evelina was equally annoyed, “Alaric, Lemmy’s now a star on PixelStage. With her amazing gaming skills, no wonder she’s so confident.”  “Hmph, confident or not, she’s still one of us Langstons. Don’t you worry, I’ve got a contract she signed. If she pushes me too far, I’ll make sure she never makes it.”  Evelina’s eyes sparkled at this, “What contract?”  Could it be they had something on Lemira?  “Alaric, where’s Lemmy?”  Lucian, who had finished with his checkup, didn’t see Lemira anywhere, a hint of disappointment in his eyes.  “Lucian, that ingrate just left. Why do you even bother asking about her?”  Evelina approached him, “Lucian, are you okay? I’ve been worried sick. Why didn’t you tell us your stomach was getting worse?”  “It’s nothing serious.”  Lucian couldn’t hide his disappointment; he had hoped Lemira would stay, but she left all the same.  Seeing Lucian’s dismay, Evelina felt a sense of crisis. Despite all her efforts this period of time, Lucian still seemed to hold Lemira in high regard.  Just then, Lucian’s secretary rushed over, “Boss, our client wants to terminate the partnership, claiming there’s an issue with the firewall in the software we designed.”  Evelina interjected, “Then get the tech team on it ASAP.”  “That’s the thing, it hasn’t been resolved, which is why they want out.”  Lucian managed a wry smile, “Lemmy is the one who was responsible for resolving that firewall issue.”  He found it difficult to broach the subject with Lemira, hence the delay.  Alaric scoffed, “I refuse to believe we can’t solve it without Lemira. Lucian, don’t worry, leave it to me.”  Evelina, envious, said deliberately, “If only I knew how, I’d fix it for you in a heartbeat.”  Lucian sighed, “It was only after Lemmy left that I realized how indispensable she really is.”  Evelina nearly lost her composure. What about her? Where did she stand in all this?
