Chapter 202
Lucian let out a wry smile. โAsher! Sheโs our only little sister! Why would you say something like that?โ
โI just thought she was getting a bit too big for her boots, needed to be brought down a peg or two. I had no idea sheโd actually leave. Anyway, once she runs out of cash, sheโll come crawling back.โ
โThatโs not going to work. I tried that before. Now sheโs a well-known gaming streamer, making good money. I heard she got a signing bonus of millions. Not to mention, Lemira aced her exams. She might not even need us anymore.โ
Alaric felt regretful. Asher was speechless, not expecting Lemiraโs transformation.
Seeing the situation unravel, Evelina promptly feigned a faint. Time to shift the focus to herself, to get Asher to deal with the cheating scandal! As soon as Evelina โfainted,โ Asher scooped her up, and they were gone.
Lucian, clutching his stomach, said painfully, โCheck who reported Lemira for cheating.โ Something felt wrong.
โGot it, Lucian. Youโve got to take care of that stomach, really. Eve made you some soup; remember to eat it.โ
Lucian shook his head. โItโs no use. Only Lemmyโs soup works. I found out the recipe came from a renowned doctor. Lemmy really poured her heart into it for me.โ He regretted not appreciating her efforts.
โIโll try to get that doctor to give us the recipe again.โ
โI sent someone, but the doctor refused. I just found out Lemmy begged that doctor for a year, doing odd jobs for free, just to get that recipe!โ
Alaric was astonished. โWe had no idea she did all that. I thought that recipe was easy to get.โ They had doubted her soupโs effectiveness.
Lucianโs voice was hoarse, his eyes red. โAlaric, we really messed up.โ
โLucian, as long as we make amends sincerely, Lemira will forgive us. Weโre family, after all.โ Alaric still believed Lemira wouldnโt sever ties completely. They had gone too far, provoking her retaliation.
Lucian nodded. โYou go ahead.โ They had much to atone for.
After leaving the hospital, Lemira immediately called Orion. If Asher had harmed Orion, she would call the police. Her phone, smashed by Asher, barely responded. Lemira stood anxiously. โCome on, pick up!โ
โLemira.โ
She looked up to see Orion nearby, her mind blanking. Her eyes reddened instantly. โIโm just glad youโre okay.โ
Orion extended his hand. โCome on, Iโll take you home.โ
Without hesitation, Lemira ran into his arms, her fears calming as she heard his steady heartbeat. Thank goodness heโs fine! she thought.
Orion, hand still outstretched, found himself clasped in her embrace. His Adamโs apple bobbed, emotions swirling. He thought his feelings were hidden well, but realized he wasnโt as unperturbed as he believed. Lemiraโs presence had subtly permeated his being, flowing into his heart, becoming a permanent part of him.
Withdrawing his hand, Orion gently wrapped his arms around her, noticing the tears on her lashes. His voice, though filled with concern, held a hint of quiet strength. โDonโt worry about Asher. Iโll handle it for you.โ
