Chapter 205

Lemira spoke with her teacher and confirmed the call was likely from a family memberโ€”perhaps Asher or Lucian. Just as in her past life, they had made the same decision, secretly choosing her college for her. In her previous life, despite excellent grades, she was forced to attend the same lower-ranked college as Evelina, ostensibly so the sisters could look after each other. Refusal meant losing her allowance and all financial support.

Lemira's gaze turned icy. "You know how my family is. I didn't expect them to make this decision for me, but I'm determined to go to Orvin University. I need to change my account and password."

"I understand," her teacher replied. "I'll contact Orvin University's admissions office immediately. You should come by as well, to ensure everything is properly set."

The teacher was aware of the Langstons' favoritism but not to this extent. A top student like Lemira rejecting Orvin University was akin to sabotaging her future.

After hanging up, Lemira washed her face, changed clothes, and prepared to leave her apartment. Before departing, she glanced at her neighbor's door, then decided against telling Orion. It was her problem to solve; she couldn't rely on him too much.

That afternoon, Lemira took a cab to school. She met with the Orvin University admissions officer, introduced by her teacher: "This is Lemira. I've explained her family situation; it doesn't reflect her wishes."

"Understood," the officer said. "Based on your grades, Lemira, you're eligible for our flagship programs in Finance, Computer Science, and Mathematics. It depends on your interests; we can discuss them further."

Lemira had already decided; she was interested in Computer Science and Medicine.

A couple of hours later, leaving the meeting room, she saw the sunset and felt the warmth of the evening air. Her mood lightened; at least in this life, no one could dictate her college choices.

"Lemira, what are you doing here?" Asher's surprise was evident. "You're not here to gloat, are you?"

Lemira's tone was cold. "Why can't I be here? Do you own the school?"

"Lemira, what kind of attitude is that?"

"You reap what you sow."

Lemira's disdain was obvious, and she made no effort to hide it. Especially after discovering their interference with her applications, her disgust was profound.

Evelina, anxious, began to sob. "Lemmy, are you here to testify that I cheated? Why would you slander me?" Investigations often required testimony, and Evelina was certain Lemira wouldn't speak favorably of her.

Asher frowned. "Lemira, what exactly have you been telling the school? You know there are consequences for spreading rumors!"

Lemira, in a simple white T-shirt, visibly frustrated, was interrupted. A voice from behind her said, "Mr. Langston, Lemira is here for something else, not because of Evelina."

Their teacher quickly intervened.

Asher furrowed his brows. "Then what is she doing here? It can't be anything good!" Asher hadn't slept well since Lemira presented the agreement to sever ties.

"It's excellent news, actually. An admissions officer from Orvin University came to discuss Lemira's application choices with her personally."
