Chapter 246

Lemira fought desperately to break free, running forward. Spotting an open elevator, she darted inside. Leaning against the wall, she gritted her teeth and pulled out her smartphone, unsure whom to call. Left with no choice, she dialed 911, continuing her escape.

โ€œThere she is! Donโ€™t let her get away!โ€

Cornered at the hallway's end, Lemira faced two bodyguards. โ€œIโ€™ve called the police; theyโ€™ll be here any minute.โ€

โ€œEven the Almighty couldn't help you.โ€

โ€œYoung lady, youโ€™re in over your head. Come with us.โ€

Pinned against the wall, barely able to stand, Lemira watched them approach. A nearby door swung open. Without thinking, she rushed inside, knocking over a vase. โ€œI can pay for the damages, but I need to get to a hospital!โ€

If the guards were wary of this room, someone important was inside. Breaking something would attract attention and demand compensation. She needed time; escape meant safety.

Weakening, Lemira slumped to the floor. She could barely lift her head to see the men in the room.

โ€œLemon? Is that really you?โ€

Thaddeus couldn't believe his ears until he saw a girl bursting in, shattering the antique vase. Hearing a familiar voice, Lemira looked up and saw Thaddeus. Orion then lifted her from the broken porcelain.

Orion, distressed and angry, asked, โ€œWhat on earth happened?โ€

Lemira managed a weak smile. โ€œItโ€™s you guys.โ€

Feeling safe, she looked up at Orion with puppy eyes. โ€œSomeoneโ€™s been bullying me!โ€

Orion noticed her alcohol-soaked clothes and flushed face, instantly understanding her ordeal. His face darkened, his gaze shifting towards the door. Thaddeus understood immediately. โ€œDonโ€™t worry, Iโ€™ll handle it. Everyone, out!โ€

Thaddeus ushered the bodyguards out. Their curiosity piqued, they asked, โ€œWhoโ€™s that girl?โ€

โ€œAm I dreaming? Did Orion justโ€ฆ pick up a girl?โ€

Thaddeus coughed. โ€œSome questions are best left unanswered. We have more pressing matters.โ€

Lemiraโ€™s simple dinner had escalated. The bodyguards, trying their luck, claimed, โ€œWeโ€™re with the hotel. She owes us money. She was to settle it by keeping us company, but she ran.โ€

Thaddeusโ€™s expression turned icy. โ€œWatch your mouth. You think you can slander her like that?โ€ They needed a lesson.

Back in the room, Lemira clung to Orion, nuzzling his neck. Orion pressed her hand. โ€œWhat exactly happened? Didnโ€™t I tell you to avoid drinking when youโ€™re out?โ€

โ€œAre you scolding me?โ€ Lemira looked up, eyes brimming with tears, feeling wronged.

Orion softened, explaining patiently, โ€œIโ€™m just worried about you!โ€

โ€œEvelina set me up. She sprayed something on me, making me feel weak.โ€

Orionโ€™s suspicions were confirmed. He took off his jacket to wrap Lemira, holding her close as they left.

Thaddeus, standing over the subdued bodyguards, said coldly, โ€œThese two are lying, refusing to say who they work for.โ€

Orion, with a dark aura, looked like the grim reaper.
