Chapter 281  Lemira’s lips twisted into a cold smirk, “Yes, you’ll find out after I get discharged.”  “Why the mystery now? Can’t you just tell us straight?”  “Tell you straight? I told you straight this time, look where that got me. I don’t trust you!”  Alaric choked on the words for a moment, “But you should trust Lucian, right?”  “In my eyes, you’re all the same.”  Alaric quickly changed the subject, “Lemira, Lucian’s not doing so well. His stomach issue’s flaring up again. The doc says his constant brooding is making it worse. Maybe you should see him.”  Hearing this, Lemira spoke blandly, “I dreamed about the car crash that killed our parents last night.”  Taric paused, “Did you remember something new?”  “No, just fragments, and the sound of our parents calling out to me. Ever since they died, deep down, you all blamed me. If I hadn’t insisted on going out for that birthday cake, the accident wouldn’t have happened.”  She had always felt that way in her previous life, which was  she had always tried to please her brothers.  Alaric sighed, “Those were just harsh words said when we were kids. We can’t blame you for this, it was an accident!”  “Right, I’ve started to see that now. Because in my dream, our parents kept telling me to run.”  Lemira wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes, “Seeing me reminds you of our parents‘ death, and it’s the same for me. So maybe it’s better if we keep our distance, become strangers. If it’s really important, just message me.”  With that, Lemira ended the call. She had always known her brothers harbored some resentment towards her; even if it was unspoken, didn’t mean it didn’t exist.  After hanging up, Alaric felt a pang of sadness. Even though he said it was an accident, deep down, he did blame Lemira.  He blamed her for wanting to go out for that cake, which led to the accident that killed their parents. That day, they all lost their parents. “Alaric, did Lemmy say what the proof was?”  Lucian’s cheeks had an unhealthy pallor, hope flickering in his eyes. Alaric, clutching his phone, could only bow his head in silence. Lucian understood, turning away to wipe his tears, “Do you think if I gave up my life for our sister, she’d forgive me?”  If only there were a way to turn back time!  Lucian’s tone grew more serious, “Alaric, have someone dig into everything about Evelina. We have to protect Lemira this time.” If Asher wouldn’t believe them, then he’d find the evidence to make him believe! They couldn’t let Evelina stay.  After hanging up, Lemira thought about Lucian’s expression in the café, angry and shocked.  She smirked coldly, guessing Evelina would also slander Lucian without evidence to Asher.  Given Asher’s character, he likely wouldn’t believe Lucian either. Such a pity she wasn’t there to witness it firsthand. What went around, came around.  But this was far from over. Since Asher was covering for Evelina, the murderer, and aiming to monopolize the Al market by targeting Maple Group. She wouldn’t let Asher get his way.  The next day, after the doctor’s visit confirmed she could be discharged, Lemira changed and went to see Orion, finding him sitting up and eating.  “How are you feeling today?”  “I’ll be out of the ICU soon.”  Orion knew his sudden accident had scared the family, especially his mom. Thankfully, Thaddeus was there, or Lemira would’ve faced trouble.  Orion put down his utensils, “I’ve talked to Thaddeus. Right now, the computer and the flash drive are gone, and so is the key evidence.”
