Chapter 293
Lemira glanced at Clara. Why on earth should she feel obligated to help?
With a nonchalant tone, she said, โHave you already forgotten what happened at the party yesterday? What you did and said to me?โ She wasnโt some pushover.
Clara felt guilty. โIโฆI was fooled by that jerk, thatโs all.โ
โAlright, how is that my problem? Itโs not like he spread a naked picture of me!โ If it had been her compromising photo, Clara would probably have been broadcasting it far and wide by now. Some people simply expected others to sacrifice for them! Lemira wouldnโt indulge such behavior. Overwhelmed, Clara grabbed Janice, hoping for intervention.
Janice replied in a low voice, โYou were out of line yesterday. Maybe you should apologize to Lemira.โ It didnโt make sense to bully Lemira one day and expect her help the next.
Hearing this, Clara cried even louder. She didnโt want to humble herself and apologize. She had always held herself in high regard in their dorm, always looking down on Lemira. And yet, the very Lemira sheโd looked down upon had become a popular internet streamer! Clara couldnโt stand it; it was a bitter pill to swallow. Asking for Lemiraโs help was beyond her capabilities.
Woken by the noise and unable to return to sleep, Lemira went to the library, intending to borrow books to catch up on her studies. Having experienced much in her past life, she felt a need to make up for lost time.
After selecting some books and settling down, Lemira noticed many people sneaking glances at her. When she looked back, they quickly averted their eyes, as if afraid of eye contact. Soon, a girl shyly passed her a note: โIโm your huge fan; can I have your autograph?โ
Lemira obliged, signing the girlโs notebook. But more fans approached, and Lemira, worried about disturbing others, decided to leave.
โLemira, could we talk?โ
Lemira turned to see two girls approachingโmembers of the school team who had defended her after she confronted Jackson. One hesitated before speaking, โWould you consider running for team captain?โ
โMe?โ
โYes, youโre really talented. And you know what Jackson is like; heโs caused trouble for many girls, but no one dared to stand up to him. If you were captain, things like that wouldnโt happen. With you as our captain, Lemira, I believe our team can reach new heights.โ
Lemira pondered. โBut I havenโt heard anything about the election.โ
โI plan to report Jackson. Seeing Clara hurt by that jerk, Iโve been regretting it all night. If I had stood up sooner, perhaps no girls would suffer. Once the school starts an investigation, heโll be removed from his position. Thereโll surely be an election then, and with your current popularity, youโre a shoo-in!โ
Gazing at the girlsโ firm expressions, Lemira felt touched. Indeed, girls were the most adorable beings in the world. Initially, Lemira was reluctant to join the club because of Jackson, but now that he would be dismissed, it was ideal. Nodding, she agreed, โAlright, if thereโs anything I can do to help, just let me know.โ
The girls smiled. โDonโt worry, weโve already gathered enough evidence.โ
Lemira left the school, grabbed some snacks, and contemplated taking up self-defense classes.
