Chapter 313

โ€œOw, ow, ow, my fingers are gonna break!โ€ Lemifa was twisting Susannaโ€™s fingers with such force that Evelina dashed over.

โ€œLet go of her, Lemira, would you? Everyoneโ€™s watching!โ€ Evelina exclaimed urgently.

โ€œItโ€™s Susanna who started it, and everyoneโ€™s watching that too,โ€ Lemira retorted before finally releasing her grip, causing Susanna to fall face-first into the dirt.

Evelina rushed to help Susanna up. โ€œAre you okay?โ€

Susanna screamed hysterically, โ€œWhat are you waiting for? Twist that bumpkinโ€™s fingers for me!โ€

โ€œIโ€™d like to see you try!โ€ Ian stepped forward with authority, glaring at Susanna. โ€œMs. Sinclair, youโ€™re causing trouble in broad daylight. Want to end up in detention again?โ€

Seeing Lucian appear, Evelina suddenly became tense.

โ€œAnd who might you be? Lemiraโ€™s boyfriend?โ€ Susanna sneered coldly.

โ€œWatch your mouth. Lemira is my sister.โ€

โ€œLemiraโ€™s an orphan. Since when does she have a brother!โ€

Lucian responded firmly, โ€œLemira is no orphan. Sheโ€™s the real heiress of the Langston Group, always modest, never boasting about it.โ€

Susanna looked astonished. โ€œBut wasnโ€™t Evelina the Langston heiress? How did it become Lemira?โ€

Glancing at Evelina, Susanna noticed her claim to fame being questioned. Evelina was struggling to maintain her composure.

โ€œLetโ€™s talk this over downstairs, Lucian, with so many eyes on us,โ€ Evelina suggested quickly, desperate to keep her adopted status under wraps. If it got out, how could she ever face her peers again?

โ€œEvelina is just the adopted daughter, the driverโ€™s girl. Lemira is my true sister!โ€ Lucian clarified, shattering Evelinaโ€™s facade.

Evelinaโ€™s face went pale at his words. Thatโ€™s a disaster. How could she hold her head high in business school now?

Susanna, too, was taken aback. Lemira wasnโ€™t some country bumpkin but a genuine heiress?

โ€œWhy is the driverโ€™s daughter attending business school instead of Lemira then?โ€ Susanna couldnโ€™t help asking, feeling uneasy.

โ€œLemira was supposed to attend, but sheโ€™s so brilliant she got into Orvin University on her own merits,โ€ Lucian explained, silencing the crowd.

Whispers spread fast.

โ€œMy God, Lemiraโ€™s the real heiress? And to think weโ€™ve been duped by a chauffeurโ€™s daughter parading as such. How ludicrous.โ€

โ€œYeah, flaunting a stolen identity, and so loudly at that. Ridiculous.โ€

Evelina, overwhelmed by shame and the crowdโ€™s judgment, tearfully looked at Lucian. โ€œWhyโ€ฆ Why did you have to expose me like this?โ€

But Lucian didnโ€™t spare her a glance, focusing instead on Lemira. โ€œLemmy, Iโ€™ve made many mistakes, and I know Iโ€™ve hurt you. I donโ€™t expect forgiveness; I just want to make things right and protect you.โ€

Lemira remained calm. โ€œDid you ever ask if I wanted you to do this?โ€

โ€œI saw you being bullied and wanted to clear up your status!โ€

โ€œYou never asked what I needed, assuming your actions were some grand gesture of compensation. But in the end, youโ€™ve only pleased yourself.โ€

Lemira hadnโ€™t wanted anyone to know about her connection to the Langston family. But Lucian, in his effort to protect her, had publicly declared their relationship, insisting it was to save her from bullying by revealing her true status as an heiress.

Lucian was momentarily flustered. โ€œThat wasnโ€™t my intention.โ€ He genuinely wanted to do something right.

Lemira grabbed the microphone, addressing the crowd. โ€œI was once part of the Langston family, but not anymore. My true fans know Iโ€™ve had a falling out with them. Let me clarify once and for all, I have no ties to the Langston family!โ€
