Asher’s face turned an ashen shade of fury in an instant! He couldn’t believe Lemira actually had the guts to pull this off.

Lemira’s lips curled into a frosty smirk. “The evidence is irrefutable, and there’s a crowd of witnesses. I suppose the Langston Group has no leg to stand on now, do they?”

The middle-aged director stepped forward. “The rest of you, disperse. We will handle this matter properly and issue a statement.” He wanted the onlookers gone, to prevent the situation from escalating and causing undesirable repercussions.

Once the area was cleared, the director spoke. “Mr. Langston, I believe the truth of the matter is clear without further explanation. As per the regulations, your bid will be disqualified!” Despite the Langston Group being a formidable entity, rules were rules, and they couldn’t be bent.

Upon hearing this verdict, Asher turned to Lemira. “Are you happy now?”

Lemira barely lifted an eyelid. “Somewhat. Thanks for the demonstration.”

Enraged, Asher pointed at Lemira’s face. “Lemira!”

Lemira slapped his hand away. “This is what you call karma!”

A representative from Maple Group intervened. “Sir, it’s not like Lemira forced you to steal the idea, nor did she coerce you into using it! This is all on you, why blame her?” Initially, the representative thought Lemira’s decision to sever ties was a bit harsh. But now, he didn’t think so anymore. A clean break was best. Such family, better off without!

Asher was left speechless. “This is our family matter!”

“But she’s severed ties with you; she’s not family anymore.”

“Yet Lemira will always have the Langston blood; nothing can change that!”

Lemira glanced at the representative. “I’m fine. Let’s just get our lawyer to handle this.”

“Sure, the idea was yours after all. You call the shots!”

The Langstons’ attitude was infuriating. How could they be so biased? As if Lemira was the plagiarizer! Dearly, Lemira was the victim!

“Now, I guess it’s time for the truth.”

Evelina suddenly looked up. “Asher, actually, Lemira deliberately gave me the document to pass to you, then expose you in front of everyone, ensuring the Langston Group lost the bid!”

Alaric looked at Evelina in shock. “Why would you lie?” That wasn’t what happened at all!

Evelina bit her lip, determined. “Alaric, you don’t know about it. It’s a deal between me and Lemira. But now, to save Asher’s company from losing the bid, I can’t hide the truth anymore.”

Asher, surprised, asked, “Eve, why would you make such a deal with her?”

Tears filled Evelina’s eyes. “Because Lemira blackmailed me with footage from that night at the bar. She had a backup. If I didn’t comply, she’d give it to the Sinclairs, claiming I intentionally kept the video of Susanna committing a crime. I was scared; I had no choice!”

Lemira, hearing Evelina’s barrage of lies, couldn’t help but retort, “Evelina, were you a storyteller in your past life?” Such a talent for fabrication!

“Lemmy, even if you threatened me with that video, I must reveal the truth!”

Alaric cut Evelina off. “Do you have proof?”

“Yes, this is the message she sent me: telling me to think carefully about my next steps!” Evelina pulled up a message on her phone.

After a glance, Asher turned to Lemira. “What do you have to say? Did you send this?”

Lemira nodded. “I did.”

But it’s a completely different context! She couldn’t believe Evelina would go to such lengths to absolve herself with lies!

“Lemira, I can’t believe you’d stoop so low, using such despicable methods. Let that be, but you shouldn’t have threatened Eve. If you have a problem, come at me!”

Evelina tugged on Asher’s arm. “Asher, this is between Lemmy and me, but I can’t drag you into this!”
