Chapter 367
Lemira had this niggling feeling that sheโd dined at Bistrova before. It was Thaddeus who had footed the bill last time they visited that establishment. Orion, feeling slightly guilty for once, managed a strained response. โYeah, itโs the same place we hit up before.โ After all, it was Thaddeusโ treat.
Lemira nodded. โI knew that name rang a bell.โ
Evelina covered her mouth to stifle a laugh. โOh, cut the act, you two. You only went to some knock-off version of Bistrova, not the real deal I was talking about. Given your status as a mere school doctor, I doubt you could afford a meal there.โ Evelina had walked in just now, spotting Lemira with a man, and couldnโt resist joining them. Sure enough, it was Lemira with that broke school doctor.
Thankfully, Lemira was still hanging out with that loser, leaving no room for Evelina to swoop in on Dorian. That gave Evelina some peace of mind.
Lemiraโs fair face took on a frosty expression. โItโs just a meal. Are you starving for attention or what?โ
โWhy are you getting so worked up, Lemira? I just want your boyfriend to treat you better. Skip these dive bars and at least aim for a decent diner.โ Evelina was in high spirits, finally having something to hold over Lemira. At the very least, her boyfriend was loaded. But Lemiraโs boyfriend was just a broke school doctor, doomed to be a pauper for life!
โEvelina, with your pea brain, can you even appreciate good food?โ Lemira retorted before grabbing Orionโs wrist. โLetโs go.โ There was no need to stick around for Evelinaโs babbling. Orion glanced down but didnโt resist, quietly following Lemira out of the diner.
Evelina, still somewhat resentful, followed them out. โTough times running away from home, huh, Lemira? If youโre strapped for cash, just say the word.โ
Temira turned around. โWhy donโt you focus on cozying up to your boyfriend? After all, his mam isnโt someone to mess with.โ In this life, Evelina hadnโt stolen her glory or achieved anything noteworthy. So how was the scheming girl going to win over Dorianโs tough mother? That seemed unlikely.
Evelina stomped her foot in frustration. How did Lemira know Dorianโs mother didnโt like her? She had even bought a gift for Dorianโs mother, only for it to be returned the next day with a not-so-polite message saying they wouldnโt accept items of unclear origin. It was clear she wasnโt liked.
Fuming, Evelinaโs face contorted with anger. She was determined to marry into the Draven family, become a society lady, and forever outshine Lemira.
Beep beep, Dorian pulled up in his sports car, honking. Evelina jogged over, flashing an innocent smile. โYou made it.โ
โWho were you talking to, taking forever to come over?โ
โOh, I ran into Lemira and her boyfriend. I thought they had broken up, but theyโre still together. Lemira sure is loyal.โ To think sheโd come to a place as upscale as Orvin and still not ditch that penniless boyfriend. Ridiculously stupid.
Dorianโs gaze drifted to the alley, curious about what Lemiraโs boyfriend looked like. To be into someone like Lemira, known for her fiery temper, was his taste off? He caught a glimpse of Lemira and the tall figure beside her. Dorian felt a sense of familiarity but couldnโt place it immediately. It seemed improbable!
Suddenly, Evelina covered Dorianโs eyes, a hint of jealousy in her voice. โWhat are you looking at?โ
