Chapter 378
Orion leaned back in his chair, his gaze fixed on her. Lemira leaned against the doorframe. โI thought Thaddeus would be here, not you. Looks like youโre quite the dedicated consultant.โ
โCome here, did you find any issues?โ
Lemira walked over, standing in front of the desk. โI did find a small glitch. Weโll need to have a meeting to sort it out.โ
Orion tapped on the desk. โCome take a look. Is it the same issue you found?โ
Heโs testing too?
Lemira circled the desk to stand beside him. Orion stood up, offering his seat to Lemira, then poured a glass of water and set it beside her.
Lemira scrolled the mouse, eyeing the error he pointed out. โI thought there was something off. You noticed it too.โ
Admittedly, Orion had a bit of an edge over her. He leaned in to look at the computer. โActually, itโs quite obvious.โ
Resting one hand on the edge of the desk, he calmly explained the issue, showing patience. At first, Lemira listened intently, but then she turned her head, noticing their proximity. He was leaning over, almost as if he was encircling her in his arms.
Suddenly, Lemira couldnโt concentrate. She grabbed the glass of water and took a few sips, quenching her thirst. Orion then paused, glancing at the glass in her hand. โThirsty?โ
Lemira nodded. He smiled. โThatโs my glass.โ
His glass?
Lemira felt her face heat up, quickly setting the glass down. โIโll get you another one.โ
โNo need, letโs go grab some dinner.โ
Orion straightened up, widening the distance between them, as if the moment of closeness had never happened. Lemira rose from her seat. โItโs getting late. I should head back to the dorm before itโs too late.โ
The dorm had a curfew. Orion glanced at the time; indeed, it was late. He remembered Orvin University dorms closed at 11 PM.
โIโll drive you.โ
Lemira joined Orion in leaving the office, sitting in the passenger seat. The car ride was quiet, making Lemira feel uneasy. She initiated conversation. โThaddeus didnโt come in today?โ
11:05
โDid you need him for something?โ
โHe brought in that lawyer for the lawsuit, you know? Mr. Alfred, the famous one!โ
Orion responded evenly, โYeah, I know.โ
โWhatโs the deal between Thaddeus and Dorian?โ
Lemira knew Thaddeus was wealthy, but she didnโt realize his connection to the Draven family. Orionโs car stopped at a red light. โWhy do you ask?โ
โDorian went to court with Evelina today. He mentioned something odd, implying Mr. Alfred took the case because of his cousinโs influence.โ
Lemira didnโt mention Dorianโs insinuation about her having an affair. Orion knew he couldnโt hide it any longer. After a moment, he said, โHe is Dorianโs cousin.โ
Temira was stunned. โThaddeus is an heir to the Draven family?โ She hadnโt realized Thaddeusโ background was so significant. She looked seriously at the man driving beside her. โI had no idea your buddy was so loaded.โ
Orion felt slightly guilty. โItโs okay, I guess.โ
โWhy didnโt you tell me sooner?โ
โIt wasnโt necessary.โ
Lemira thought it over; maybe there was no need, perhaps Thaddeus didnโt want his identity revealed. Soon, the car stopped outside the school. After getting out, Lemira waved at him. โDrive safe.โ
โLemira, ditching your sugar daddy to date this broke guy? Playing both sides, arenโt you scared Mr. Draven will find out and dump you?โ
Evelina, reeking of alcohol and perfume from a night at the bar, approached them. Orionโs expression turned cold instantly.
