Chapter 379

Lemira wrinkled her nose in disgust, turning back to Orion. โ€œYou better head off first.โ€

โ€œLemira, pushing me away so quickly, feeling guilty, arenโ€™t you? Afraid your broke boyfriend will find out heโ€™s not the only one spoiling you?โ€

Lemira turned back, facing Evelinaโ€™s drunken slurs. โ€œAll this talk about being kept, seems like you know a lot about it.โ€

โ€œLemira, cut the crap, youโ€™re just feeling guilty.โ€

Evelina, looking over at Orion in the car, sneered, โ€œYou donโ€™t need to look so sour, Orion. Lemiraโ€™s just cheating on you, kept by Mr. Draven no less, even got shares in the Maple Group.โ€

Orionโ€™s eyes narrowed slightly. Those shares were his gift to Lemira.

Evelina boasted, โ€œFor a school doctor as broke as you, youโ€™ll never make that kind of money in your lifetime. Guess youโ€™re the first one living off someone else here. But hey, youโ€™re pretty handsome. If you were with me, I could give you way more.โ€

She just couldnโ€™t stand Lemira playing both sides, especially with men so blindly devoted to her. Dorian, that mommyโ€™s boy, ran home at his momโ€™s call, not even daring to pick up her calls.

Evelina burped, her satisfaction evident. She wasnโ€™t having a good time, and she wasnโ€™t about to let Lemira have one either. She intended to take everything from Lemira, including her man.

โ€œSo, what do you say, Orion? Itโ€™s a better deal with me!โ€

What could Lemira offer this man? She was the most beloved daughter of the Langston family.

โ€œEvelina, have you lost your mind?โ€

Lemira yanked Evelina away, delivering a sharp slap across her face. โ€œDidnโ€™t get enough during the day, did you?โ€

Evelina landed on the ground with a thud, her head buzzing. Lemira pulled out her phone to record Evelina. โ€œIf youโ€™re so drunk youโ€™re desperate for a man, go to a hotel, donโ€™t come here making a scene!โ€

Evelina wanted to retort, but the sight of Lemira filming made her scramble up. โ€œDelete that video.โ€

โ€œBack off, or believe me, Iโ€™ll post this on the college forum. Let all your followers see you drunk and desperateโ€ฆ Think your โ€˜innocent coedโ€™ title will stick?โ€

Evelina, sobered up by fear, slunk away. Lemira put away her phone, turning to Orion. โ€œSheโ€™s just drunk ranting. Iโ€™m heading back to the dorm before curfew.โ€

Orion nodded, watching her enter the school. Thinking over Evelinaโ€™s words, he called Thaddeus, his voice cold. โ€œWhat did Asher say?โ€

โ€œI was about to tell you, theyโ€™ve got the wrong idea about me and Lemon. Saying Iโ€™m keeping her, and Asher even wanted to negotiate. As if heโ€™s in any position to threaten me.โ€

Orionโ€™s expression darkened. โ€œLeak the Langston brothersโ€™ corporate espionage. The worse the fallout, the better.โ€

11:05

โ€œGot it, Lemon deserves better.โ€

Thaddeus paused. โ€œAs a friend, just a heads-up. Sooner or later, your real identity will come out. Have you thought about how to explain it to Lemon?โ€

Sooner or later, Lemira would run into someone who knew Orion. It was just a matter of time.

Orion swallowed. โ€œI know.โ€

Yet, he had no idea how to start that conversation. He feared that once Lemira knew his true identity, they might not even remain friends. What he had now, felt like stolen moments.

โ€œJust think it over, you canโ€™t hide forever.โ€

After hanging up, Orion rolled down his window, lighting a cigarette, his thoughts tangled as he gazed at the night sky. His phone beeped, snapping him back. Lemira had texted: [Got home yet?]

Extinguishing the cigarette, he replied, [Almost there.]

A smile crept on his face, one he didnโ€™t even notice forming.
