Chapter 406

Lemira knew the cloth was laced with chloroform, but she eventually passed out anyway. Watching Lemira slump into unconsciousness, Caspian finally let go of her and took the napkin offered by his bodyguard. The driver tentatively suggested, โ€œSir, maybe we should tie her hands, just to be safe.โ€ After all, Ms. Lemira seemed pretty skilled.

Caspianโ€™s hand flew in a swift backhand slap. โ€œTie whose hands? She is my sister, Ms. Langston, got it?โ€ The driver quickly zipped his lips in fear. Caspian closed the car door: โ€œTo the hospital.โ€ He touched his swollen face.

Buch, the girl has been practicing, and she knows how to fight back now. They arrived at the hospital. Caspian carried Lemira into a high-end private room, cheerfully announcing, โ€œLucian, guess who I brought?โ€

โ€œLemmy? Why did she pass out?โ€

Lucian was overjoyed to see Lemira but noticed she hadnโ€™t woken up. โ€œCaspian, what happened to Lemmy?โ€ Caspian touched his swelling cheek. โ€œIt wasnโ€™t easy bringing her here. We were talking, and suddenly, she lashed out and knocked me out cold. Lucian, sheโ€™s gotten pretty tough, and harder to handle.โ€

Caspian was pleased, but not happy that Lemira had turned tough and seemed to be turning against the family. โ€œCaspian, thatโ€™s too much. You canโ€™t treat Lemmy like that; what you used could harm her.โ€ โ€œDonโ€™t worry, Lucian, I know what Iโ€™m doing.โ€ Soon a doctor came to apply medication to his wounds and ice to reduce the swelling.

Lucian sighed, โ€œCaspian, Lemmyโ€™s grown up, we canโ€™t treat her like we used to.โ€ โ€œBut look at her, storming off after exams, going off to Orvin University alone, and then getting involved with the Sinclairs, which ended up with Alaric in detention. If youโ€™d been stricter and kept her close, none of this wouldโ€™ve happened.โ€

โ€œThis time is different; we were in the wrong.โ€ Lucian had realized they couldnโ€™t blame Lemira for everything. Caspian glanced at Lemira. โ€œI was kept away from her due to forced isolation, and then there was the trouble with the film crew. If Iโ€™d been there, Lemira wouldnโ€™t have ended up like this.โ€ He had always been the one teaching Lemira how to be.

Lucian took off Lemiraโ€™s shoes and tucked her in. He lowered his voice, โ€œCaspian, Iโ€™ll handle Lemiraโ€™s situation, but you must promise not to resort to your ways!โ€ โ€œGot it,โ€ Caspian replied, somewhat impatiently.

Caspianโ€™s agent approached. โ€œCaspian, youโ€™ve got an appearance tonight. How did you injure your face?โ€ โ€œItโ€™s nothing.โ€

Chapter 70

โ€œHow can it be nothing? For a star, the face is crucial.โ€ Caspian remained unfazed, not taking the incident to heart. He stood up, glancing at Lemira on the bed. โ€œLucian, talk to her. Iโ€™ll come back after Iโ€™m done?โ€

โ€œYou better not treat Lemmy like this in the future.โ€ โ€œYou canโ€™t tell me youโ€™re not happy to see her here?โ€ Lucian was exasperated; it wasnโ€™t the same. He wanted Lemira to visit him at the hospital, but not like this.

No sooner had Caspian left than Lemiraโ€™s phone rang. Lucian glanced at the caller ID โ€“ Orion. Without hesitation, he hung up and set the phone to silent. In his heart, Lemira was always family. After finishing, he turned to see Lemira looking at him. Lucian felt guilty. โ€œLemmy, youโ€™re awake?โ€

Lemira, expressionless, slid off the bed. Lucian hurriedly offered her slippers. โ€œLemmy, put on your shoes, the floor is dirty.โ€ Lemira extended her hand. โ€œGive me my phone.โ€ โ€œLemmy, now that youโ€™re here, canโ€™t you stay a bit longer?โ€
