Chapter 407
Lemira kicked off her slippers with a swift motion. Her voice was icy as she demanded, โHand over the phone.โ
Lucian swallowed the bitterness in his throat, then quickly changed the subject. โWhat would you like to eat? Are you feeling alright?โ
Lemira felt as if she had punched a pillowโutterly powerless. She looked up at Lucian, frustration evident in her eyes. โWhy canโt any of you understand what Iโm saying?โ
Everyone claims they want to make it up to her, yet they never offer what she truly desires.
โLemmy, I know youโre mad at Caspian, but you know how heโs always been hot-tempered. Donโt hold it against him. Remember the times when you were bullied as a kid, and Caspian would go out of his way to get back at them for you?โ
Lucian was pleading, desperate not to let Lemira harbor any misunderstandings towards Caspian. After all, Lemira was already on bad terms with the Langstons, and he couldnโt bear the thought of it continuing this way.
Lemira let out a scoff. โRevenge for me?โ
โYeah, you were probably too young to remember.โ
โHow could I forget? It was his temper and pride that made it impossible for him to get along with anyone. Those who couldnโt beat him ended up bullying me instead.โ
Lemira remembered the countless times she was bullied because of Caspian. It sounded nice to say that Caspian was standing up for her, but in reality, these people targeted her because of him. Yet, she adored her brother, and despite being bullied, she still enjoyed following him around. Because aside from her, no one was willing to speak to Caspian. And then, when Evelina joined them, with her manipulative ways, Lemiraโs popularity at school plummeted, leaving her isolated. Sadly, in her previous life, she couldnโt see through it all and actually found joy in Caspian standing up for her.
Lucian struggled to maintain his composure. โI had no idea it was like that.โ
Lemira lowered her eyelids. Back then, she was the youngest.
Chapter 408
Asher, Lucian, and Rowan were busy with work, Evander was a loner, and Alaric was nothing but Caspianโs sidekick. She had no choice but to trail behind Caspian and Alaric. Even knowing that those Caspian fought would end up bullying her, she was willing because Caspian would fight back for her. That made her feel valued.
Lucian tread lightly. โIโve already spoken to Caspian. He wonโt dare do that again.โ
Lemiraโs lips curled in mockery. โYour actions now are no different from Caspianโs.โ
โLemmy, Iโm worried about any lasting effects on your health. Letโs have a doctor examine you before you go. How about you join me for lunch now?โ
โNo.โ
Chapter 40
Lemira raised her hand and knocked Lucian out cold; dealing with one person was still manageable for her. She moved Lucian to the bed and suddenly wondered if he had lost weight. He felt so light, almost as if he was all bones. This thought briefly crossed Lemiraโs mind before she let go and took her phone back. She saw several missed calls and messages from Orion.
Putting on her shoes, Lemira left the room, not wanting to stay any longer. But as she stepped out, she saw several black-suited bodyguards standing outside, blocking her way. Lemiraโs steps halted at the doorway, her teeth clenched as she marched forward. But the bodyguards swiftly surrounded her. โMs. Lemira, you canโt leave.โ
โIf youโre calling me Ms. Lemira, then step aside.โ
โIโm sorry, Ms. Lemira.โ
In the end, Lemira was carried back to the room. Hogan rushed in, carrying a thermos, and demanded the bodyguards leave. โGet out, all of you! Who allowed you to lay hands on Ms. Lemira?โ
Lemira glanced at Hogan impatiently. โLet me leave.โ
โMs. Lemira, I wish I could let you go, but my word doesnโt carry weight here.โ
Hogan sighed. โMs. Lemira, Mrs. Caspian Langston did indeed go too far. Wait until the boss wakes up, then you can leave. Sir, what happened to you?โ
Noticing Lucianโs unresponsive state, Hoganโs face turned pale with shock.
