Chapter 418
Was there really someone else in that car during the accident? Lemira clutched her head, but for the life of her, she couldnโt remember what exactly happened during that crash. After much pondering, she decided to give Lucian a call.
โLemmy, youโre calling me? Whatโs up?โ Lucianโs voice was filled with surprise.
Lemira hesitated before speaking, โThe accident back thenโฆ have we really not found the culprit?โ
โWhy bring this up all of a sudden? Did you remember something?โ
โNo, but Caspian mentioned that there was more to the accident than meets the eye, right?โ
After Lemiraโs question, the line went silent. Finally, Lucian spoke, โThis isnโt something we can clear up in a brief call. Can you come to the hospital?โ
โCanโt you just tell me over the phone?โ Lemira didnโt fancy the idea of visiting the hospital.
Lucianโs voice carried a plea, โThis is important. We need to talk face-to-face. Do you really not want to see me?โ He coughed violently, and Lemira could hear doctors and nurses in the background.
โMr. Langston, you canโt neglect your meals any longer. You need to eat well.โ
โMr. Langston, if this continues, we might have to operate on your stomach.โ
Listening in, Lemira couldnโt quite pinpoint her feelings. He seemed to be in serious condition, a stark contrast to his past self. Soon, Hogan took the phone, โMs. Lemira, heโs off for treatment. Can you make it here later?โ
Lemira was silent for a while before responding, โIโll see.โ She hung up and scrolled through her phone, finding news articles about her recent slap incident, now clarified as a rehearsal gone wrong.
Feeling upset, Lemira left the base through a side door and headed straight to the gym. Changing into her workout clothes, she was surprised to find a familiar figure at the boxing ring.
โYou got time today?โ she asked in astonishment.
Orion, in a grey tracksuit, looked youthful and vibrant. โJust checking if youโve been slacking off.โ His gaze was gentle as he extended his hand, โCome on.โ
Lemira looked at him, feeling her irritation subside. She took his hand and climbed into the ring. Putting all her energy into the sparring session, she realized no matter how she attacked, Orion effortlessly dodged every move.
Exhausted, she collapsed onto the floor, โYou liar, youโre not an amateur.โ Even with her improvements, she still couldnโt beat him.
Orion handed her a towel and water, โDonโt believe everything a man says.โ
โYouโre different,โ she countered.
Orion looked at her, โIโm still a man.โ Glancing at the time, Lemira closed her eyes to rest.
Chapter 41
Orion broke the silence, โGot plans after this? Youโve been checking the time.โ
โYeah, I have an appointment.โ
Hearing this, Orionโs hand paused. He asked, without revealing much, โA guy or a girl?โ
โA guy.โ
Lemira got up to change, leaving Orion frowning at her departure. Was it a guy?
After changing, Lemira saw Orion waiting, โGuys are always quick, huh?โ
โWhereโs your meeting? Iโll drive you.โ He sounded so casual, as if it was on his way.
Lemira didnโt argue, โSure.โ
As they drove, Orion couldnโt help but ask, โSeeing someone?โ
Lemira couldnโt help but laugh, โNo, Iโm heading to the hospital.โ
His eyes narrowed slightly, โTo see Lucian?โ
โI need to ask him something. Caspian mentioned earlier today that there was more to the accident. There was someone else in that car, and I want to know who.โ
Orion slammed on the brakes!
