Caspian was taken aback when he heard that. Before he could react, Lucian jumped in, “Asher, you can’t do this.”

“Lucian, if we don’t take action first, do you want Caspian to end up behind bars like Alaric? If you have a solution, I’m all ears.”

Lucian knew this was a tough situation to navigate. He sighed, “But Lemira is the victim here; she hasn’t done anything wrong. It’s Evelina who stirred up trouble and caused this mess. Why should Lemmy back down?”

“I get there’s been a misunderstanding, but can’t this just be sorted out privately, without making such a big scene?”

Asher felt Lemira was being unreasonable, unwilling to take a step back or compromise. Lucian was too frustrated to articulate a response.

Asher turned to Caspian, “If you don’t follow my advice, you might as well get ready for jail time. Lemira will never let you off the hook.”

Caspian remained silent for a moment, contemplating. The last thing he wanted was to ruin his life over this. He hadn’t even clinched the Best Actor award yet.

Seizing the opportunity, Evelina cooed at Asher, “Asher, don’t be so upset. It’s partly my fault that Lemmy stormed out.”

Asher felt a twinge of guilt. “Then, you’ve been wronged. I happen to have an Aurora Trust; I’ll let you manage it.”

A flash of delight crossed Evelina’s eyes; her plan had worked. Still, she feigned modesty, “Asher, I might not be capable enough, but I’ll do my best not to disappoint you.”

“I believe in you. You’ll do great.”

Caspian was furious. “Asher, you’re actually covering for Evelina and compensating her with the foundation. Didn’t you say it was meant for Lemira?”

“Who Eve is is not for you to remind me.”

Asher replied calmly, “Lemira refuses to compromise, and Eve has suffered enough. What’s wrong with a little compensation?”

Evelina bowed her head, pretending, “Asher, maybe I shouldn’t accept it.”

“Evelina, cut the act!”

Caspian couldn’t stand her pretense anymore. “I’m going to make sure you suffer just like I have.”

“Asher, I’m scared.”

Asher stepped in front of Evelina. “You don’t have to take this. If he continues, expose his deeds just like Lemira did.”

“Asher, you’re threatening me now?”

Caspian was in disbelief. Asher scoffed, “Caspian, I’m warning you. Lay a hand on Eve again, and you’ll regret it. Let’s go, Eve.” Evelina breathed a sigh of relief; her gamble had paid off; she didn’t want to endure more hardship.

Caspian watched Evelina’s retreating figure, seething with rage. He turned to Lucian, “Lucian, has Asher lost his mind?”

Lucian could only offer a wry smile. “Caspian, didn’t I warn you? You’d regret it someday.”

Caspian was at a loss for words, his spirit crushed. Who would have thought karma would strike so swiftly?

“What should I do now?”

“Since you were the one who acted, you’re also at fault. You should be apologizing and making amends to Lemmy, not Evelina.”

Caspian’s expression twisted awkwardly; how could he face the world like this? Was Lemira entirely blameless?

After class, Lemira saw that Caspian’s fans causing a scene at the school had made the news. But the incident didn’t cause much of a stir. With the police’s preliminary investigation, most people were reserving judgment.

Matthew had done an interview where a reporter asked if Ms. Sinclair’s visit to the bridal shop meant the two families were nearing a happy announcement.
