Chapter 474

The Sinclair family had a change of heart, or so it seemed. They dropped their vendetta against her, and in return, she hadnโ€™t released any of the dirt she had on Susanna. It was an uneasy peace, but peace nonetheless.

But Lemira wasnโ€™t naive enough to think they were just looking to bury the hatchet. She knew she wasnโ€™t that important.

Sophia offered a thin smile. โ€œSusanna acted rashly, pulling our sponsorship without consulting the family. Iโ€™m here to discuss reinstating our support. After all, the Sinclair family has been a sponsor for years. Itโ€™s not like us to just withdraw.โ€

โ€œThanks, but no thanks. Weโ€™ve found another sponsor,โ€ Lemira quickly rebutted.

At this, Susanna couldnโ€™t help but interject, โ€œLemira, my sister is extending an olive branch. Donโ€™t slap it away.โ€

Sophia cut her off, โ€œSusanna, please. Be polite.โ€

โ€œSis, youโ€™re being too generous as it is, and sheโ€™s still playing hard to get,โ€ Susanna fumed, unable to swallow her pride.

Lemira looked at Sophia. โ€œMaybe we can revisit this sponsorship thing some other time. Just not right now.โ€

She wasnโ€™t completely shutting them down, a nod to their standing.

After saying her piece, Lemira went back to training.

Sophia watched Lemira play, impressed despite herself. โ€œShe really is good at gaming.โ€

It reminded her of Orionโ€™s own skills, before the accident that had driven him away from the esports scene.

โ€œWhy are you even dealing with this, sis?โ€ Susanna asked, always looking up to Sophia, aspiring to her level of grace and poise.

Sophiaโ€™s tone was pensive. โ€œJust curious. What started the beef between you two as soon as school started?โ€ Was it possible Lemira knew about Orionโ€™s true identity and was giving her sister a hard time on purpose? โ€œYou have no idea how arrogant she is. She even looked down on our Business School, so I had to put her in her place. I heard she was quite the troublemaker in high school, always hanging out with the school doctor, and theyโ€™re still together, rumor has it. Sheโ€™s a mess.โ€

โ€œShe had a boyfriend in high school? And he was the school doctor?โ€

โ€œExactly. You donโ€™t need to be nice to her.โ€

Sophia thought this was juicy information. Perhaps Orion hadnโ€™t disclosed his real identity to Lemira, likely keeping his guard up. She decided Mrs. Amanda needed to hear about this. Although only a stepmom, she was deeply invested in Orionโ€™s affairs. If Orion ended up with someone of questionable reputation, it would reflect poorly on Mrs. Amandaโ€™s stewardship.

Susanna whispered, โ€œMatthew blurted out that your engagement to the Everhart family was a sham, and you didnโ€™t even clarify. Itโ€™s embarrassing me at school.โ€

Sophiaโ€™s smile waned.

โ€œNo need to fall into the trap of self-justification. Matthew doesnโ€™t speak for his brother.โ€

โ€œBut I saw your fiancรฉ leaving a bar with some vixen. Is he cheating?โ€

โ€œStop gossiping.โ€

Chapter 474

Sophia hadnโ€™t mentioned Lemira to Susanna to avoid spooking her. But she was starting to piece things together. Thatโ€™s why the Sinclair family had been facing trouble lately. When Susanna targeted Lemira, Orion must have intervened behind the scenes, all to defend Lemira.

A chill ran down Sophiaโ€™s spine, yet she saw an opportunity. If Orion was keeping his identity a secret, it was probably nothing serious. She was the one destined to be with Orion, not Lemira.

The Sinclair sisters didnโ€™t linger long. Once they were gone, Lemira let out a sigh of relief. What were they up to now?

She then checked her phone and saw a message from Mr. Alfred, essentially saying she needed a witness for her parentsโ€™ will, preferably her brother. The only person who might help her was Lucian.

Hesitantly, she dialed his number, but Asher picked up, โ€œLemira, calling on your own? Trying to convince Lucian to vouch for you? Fat chance!โ€
