What gives you the right to give something so precious to an outsider?”
“Because Evelina’s father died trying to save our parents. She has been nothing but obedient and sensible throughout the years with the Langstons, and yet, she has faced so much injustice. Compensating her like this is only fair.”
Lemira snorted dismissively, “Are you so sure Evelina’s father died for our parents?”
“What else? I’ve investigated this matter countless times. Lemira, you just can’t accept owing Evelina’s family a debt, hence the constant skepticism. Is it really worth it?”
Hearing Lemira’s angry voice made Asher’s day a lot better. For a while now, Lemira had been quite smug, acting as if she didn’t care about anything, pushing the Langston family to the brink. Alaric’s eSports team investments went down the drain, leading to massive financial losses. And now, if Caspian got blacklisted, the compensation would be even more astronomical. Asher couldn’t let his years of business planning suffer because of this. He knew Lemira would be bothered about the Aurora Trust.
“So, you did it on purpose?” Lemira gritted her teeth.
“Of course, I did. What about it? You said you wanted to cut ties with the Langstons, so everything about the Langstons shouldn’t matter to you anymore.”
Asher was adamant he could handle Lemira. “If you keep up this nonsense and insist on suing Caspian, then I’ll give everything our parents left to Evelina. After all, we owe her family that much.”
“You wouldn’t dare!”
Lemira was fuming. Had Asher lost his mind? A cold smirk played on Asher’s lips. “There’s nothing I wouldn’t dare to do. After all, you’ve shown no consideration for the Langstons’ interests, so why should I consider yours? You chose to leave, making Eve the rightful daughter and heir to everything.”
“But those are my inheritance! You have no right to give them to Evelina!”
Lemira’s eyes reddened with rage, determined not to back down this time.
“But Mom and Dad only made a verbal promise; they didn’t leave a will before they passed. Even if you sue, it’s pointless.”
After saying that, Asher added, “Did you think by leaving the Langstons, everyone should come begging to you? Impossible!”

But upon entering, she saw Susanna and another attractive woman with a great figure. Lemira remembered seeing this woman at the hospital after an accident, seemingly familiar with Thaddeus and the others. With a haughty tilt of her chin, Susanna announced, “Sis, she’s here.”
Approaching Lemira, Sophia extended her hand warmly, “Nice to see you again. Let me introduce myself; I’m Susanna’s sister.”
Lemira was taken aback, “Susanna’s sister? That’s quite the coincidence.”
“I only recently found out about the misunderstanding between you and my sister. I came specifically to clear the air. You know Thaddeus and the others, so I guess we can consider ourselves friends now?”
Lemira couldn’t quite accept the ‘friend’ label just yet. With a polite smile, she responded, “The issues between Susanna and me have been resolved.”
