Chapter 492
When Caspian stood up for Lemira, Evelinaโs earlier words seemed especially hollow. Whispers started circulating.
โIn our line of work, thereโs nothing worse than slaving over a script, only to have someone elseโs name slapped onto it.โ
โYeah, why should our hard work be credited to someone else? Thatโs just shameless.โ
Evelina, hearing the murmurs, felt her eyes well up, looking helplessly towards Asher on stage for support.
Asher, facing Caspian, said, โI definitely saw Evelina contributing to the script. You canโt just exclude her like that.โ
โAsher, I get you want Evelina to shine, but the script is clearly Lemiraโs work. Evelina has nothing to do with it. Trying to force it just makes no sense,โ Caspian shot back, unapologetically exposing Asherโs intentions.
Asher, now in a tough spot and knowing Caspian had more credibility in the industry, had little to say in return.
Caspian approached Asher. โListen, why donโt you get Evelina to focus on improving her skills? Thereโll be other opportunities. But this script, this was all Lemira. Letโs celebrate that.โ
Asher, although visibly upset, had no choice but to step down, scoffing as he passed by Lemira. Lemira, with a slight smirk, watched Asher go to Evelinaโs side, seemingly to comfort her. Unfortunately for Evelina, she wouldnโt be stealing the spotlight this time.
Caspian then addressed the crowd, โYou all know Iโve had a couple of big hits recently, and thereโs been some drama between me and my sister over an audition tape that went viral for all the wrong reasons. So, I brought her here today to clear up any misunderstandings.โ
Lemira, watching Caspian, had mixed feelings about his announcement. She knew his motives extended beyond the immediate situation, aiming to regain control of the entertainment company and to clear up the audition tape misunderstanding. Without objection, Lemira understood this was a temporary alliance with Caspian. Because her main goal was to uncover why Evelinaโs father was still alive and the truth behind the car accident years ago. She intended to make Evelina unwelcome within the Langston family, forcing those behind Evelina to act, which could lead her to find Evelinaโs father.
After Caspianโs speech, he cautiously glanced at Lemira, who didnโt rebut, much to his relief. Together, they stepped down, greeted by a crowd offering their congratulations.
Evelina, sour at seeing Lemira praised, complained to Asher, โAsher, Caspian bringing Lemira to the party must mean he disagrees with you handing the company over to me. Heโs probably holding a grudge against you now.โ
Asher, noticing the situation, sternly approached Caspian and Lemira. โYou two, I need a word.โ
Caspian stood his ground. โAsher, letโs talk after the party. Shouldnโt you be happy for Lemira right now? You seem a bit off.โ
Lemira was surprised at Caspianโs quick defense, cutting no slack in his retort.
Evelina, trying to diffuse the tension, said, โCaspian, Asher means no harm. Heโs been cleaning up the mess you two caused. How can you treat him like this?โ
Lemira coldly replied, โAnd how exactly are we treating him? Because Caspian announced Iโm the sole writer of the script without adding your name?โ
Evelinaโs face twisted in response, still shamelessly claiming, โBut I also put in the effort.โ
Asher, facing Lemira, declared, โRegardless of your stance, Evelinaโs name is on the script.โ
This house wasnโt about to be ruled by Lemira.
