Chapter 511

Asher rushed into the hallway just as Lemira was about to leave.

โ€œLemira, wait up!โ€

โ€œIf your words mean nothing, then thereโ€™s no reason for me to stay,โ€ Lemira retorted, her tone icy.

Asherโ€™s expression hardened, and he forced out, โ€œI must have misheard earlier. I thought it was you who started the fight.โ€

If Lemira left now, what would happen with Caspian and Alaric? He couldnโ€™t afford to carry that burden.

Lemiraโ€™s lips twisted into a cold smile. โ€œDid you mishear, or did someone deliberately twist the truth?โ€

Asherโ€™s tone grew softer. โ€œDoes it really matter?โ€

โ€œIt does matter. You all love sweeping things under the rug, but Iโ€™m done with that. We need to clear this up.โ€

Just as Lemira finished speaking, Caspian dragged Evelina into the room.

Caspian glared at Evelina. โ€œSo, what exactly did you tell Asher earlier? Repeat it.โ€

Evelina sheepishly glanced at Asher. โ€œAsher, I never said Lemmy hit me.โ€

Asher felt a twinge of discomfort. Evelina hadnโ€™t said it outright, but her tone certainly implied it was Lemira.

He paused for a moment, then addressed Lemira, โ€œI guess I misheard. Is that enough?โ€

โ€œAsher, if you misheard, you should apologize to Lemira,โ€ Lucian interjected, stepping in. โ€œYou assumed Lemira was at fault, and thatโ€™s on you. Sheโ€™s been wronged by your assumptions before, and we canโ€™t let it happen again.โ€

Asherโ€™s expression was reluctant. He was Asher, after all. Apologizing wasnโ€™t in his nature.

Noticing Asherโ€™s hesitation, Evelina quickly added, โ€œItโ€™s really my fault. I misled Asher, which caused all this. I should be the one to apologize.โ€

Seeing Evelina take the blame, Asher felt somewhat relieved. He had been irritated with her moments before.

Lemira watched as the โ€œtwo-facedโ€ girl approached her with feigned sincerity and swiftly slapped her across the face.

Evelina was stunned.

Lemira rubbed her wrist. โ€œSince youโ€™re apologizing, it means youโ€™re admitting fault. Slapping you is for your own good.โ€

Evelina screamed, โ€œFor my good?โ€

โ€œYes, youโ€™re always so ambiguous. It easily leads to misunderstandings. Itโ€™s not a good habit. Iโ€™m just helping you correct it. You should be thanking me.โ€

Lemira even helped Evelina back to her feet, her voice dripping with faux kindness. โ€œTry not to talk like that anymore, okay? I donโ€™t want to have to do this again.โ€

Evelina shivered at Lemiraโ€™s pleasant expression. This side of Lemira was even more unnerving. What was this woman up to?

She quickly turned to Asher for support. โ€œAsher!โ€

Asher cleared his throat. โ€œLemira has a point. She helped you up, which shows she wants to get along.โ€

Evelina nearly exploded with frustration. Lemiraโ€™s actions were anything but conciliatory, but with Asherโ€™s stance, she didnโ€™t dare argue.

Lemira let go of Evelinaโ€™s hand, making a point to wipe her own hand on Evelinaโ€™s clothing.

Evelina felt her blood pressure spike. This woman was definitely doing this on purpose, pretending to return to the Langston family to take everything from her.

Back in the dining room, the butler, Zack, approached. โ€œMr. Langston, shall we serve dinner?โ€

Lemiraโ€™s smirk deepened when she saw Zack.

Zack noticed her gaze but avoided making eye contact.

As they took their seats, Lerhira noticed Evelina habitually pulling out a chair. She swooped in and sat down. โ€œThanks!โ€

Evelina fumed. โ€œThatโ€™s my seat!โ€

โ€œReally? Well, I just love sitting here,โ€ Lemira replied with a cheeky grin.
