Chapter 513

Lemira was lounging in the main hall, gesturing for Zack to bring her some tea. She took a sniff of the steaming cup, wrinkled her nose, and placed it back on the tray. โ€œMake it again,โ€ she commanded.

Zack, swallowing his frustration, took the cup and returned to the kitchen to prepare a fresh pot. When he came back with a new cup, Lemira reached for it but recoiled as the heat stung her fingers. Annoyed, she splashed it onto Zack. โ€œAre you trying to scald me?โ€ she snapped.

Zackโ€™s eyes momentarily flashed with displeasure, but he quickly apologized, โ€œIโ€™m sorry, Ms. Lemira, it wasnโ€™t intentional.โ€

Lemira let out a derisive laugh, fully aware that her actions were deliberate.

Evelina, witnessing the scene, approached them. โ€œLemmy, Zackโ€™s quite elderly. You could have one of the maids make your tea instead.โ€

โ€œIsnโ€™t he just a servant?โ€ Lemira retorted. โ€œIf youโ€™re so worried about him, why donโ€™t you do it?โ€

โ€œLemmy, youโ€™re clearly doing this on purpose,โ€ Evelina remarked.

Caught off guard, Evelina hesitated. She certainly wasnโ€™t about to take on the role of a servant.

Lemira chuckled coldly. โ€œExactly, Iโ€™m doing it on purpose. Got a problem with that? Keep it to yourself!โ€

Anyone or anything in the Langston household that made her uncomfortable was fair game for her disdain.

Evelina glanced over at Asher, hoping for support, but he remained silent, pretending not to notice. This only fueled Evelinaโ€™s frustration. Wasnโ€™t Asher supposed to be on her side?

Caspian chimed in with a mocking tone, โ€œIf you want to play the hero, why not handle Zackโ€™s duties too? Donโ€™t just stand there.โ€

Evelina bit her tongue, choosing not to respond.

Lemira abruptly changed the subject. โ€œIsnโ€™t there a charity sale coming up for the foundation? Howโ€™s the planning going?โ€

Evelina reluctantly replied, โ€œItโ€™s scheduled for the weekend.โ€

โ€œGive me a copy of the event plan. I need to check for any areas that need improvement.โ€

โ€œBut itโ€™s almost the weekend. Thereโ€™s no time for changes!โ€ Evelina protested.

Lemira gave her a knowing smirk. โ€œIโ€™m the boss around here. If you donโ€™t want to be responsible, you can step down now.โ€

Evelina shot another pleading look at Asher.

Lemira cut in sharply, โ€œLooking at him wonโ€™t help. The foundation is mine, and I call the shots.โ€

Asher cleared his throat awkwardly. โ€œEve, maybe you should sit this one out to avoid any hassle.โ€

โ€œNo way. Iโ€™ve taken on this responsibility, and Iโ€™ll see it through,โ€ Evelina replied defiantly.

Seeing Evelinaโ€™s stubborn determination for the charity sale, Lemira smirked internally. So greedy, she thought. Even charity money isnโ€™t safe!

With that, Lemira retreated to her room.

A message popped up from Orion: โ€œIs the show over?โ€

โ€œPretty much for today,โ€ Lemira replied. โ€œLiving life with no filter makes it surprisingly more refined.โ€

She started a video call with Orion. โ€œCheck this out. This is the room my parents decorated for me.โ€

Orion was greeted with pink walls and decor that screamed little girlโ€™s dream. His expression softened as he spoke, โ€œYouโ€™re your parentsโ€™ little princess.โ€

โ€œOf course I am,โ€ Lemira said, looking around the room, feeling the love her parents had poured into it.

After chatting for a while, Evelinaโ€™s voice echoed from outside, โ€œI brought the event plan.โ€

Lemira glanced at Orion. โ€œGotta go.โ€

Ending the call, she opened the door. Evelina reluctantly handed her the file. โ€œHere it is.โ€

Lemira flipped through the pages. โ€œYou wrote this?โ€

โ€œYep, all by myself. Asher even said it looked fine.โ€

โ€œBut I see a lot of issues. Plenty needs to be revised. Iโ€™ll tell you what needs fixing, and it must be done by tonight!โ€

Evelina gritted her teeth. โ€œAlright, tell me.โ€

Lemira pointed out several flaws, then tossed the file back at Evelina. โ€œGet it done by tonight.โ€

โ€œFine, but donโ€™t lock your door, Lemmy. Iโ€™ll come back when Iโ€™m finished.โ€

โ€œSure, now get out of here.โ€
