Chapter 514

Lemira watched Evelinaโ€™s retreating figure, her eyes filled with a myriad of thoughts. Once Evelina returned to her room, her expression was as cold as a winterโ€™s night.

Zack quietly entered, carrying a glass of milk. โ€œMs. Evelina,โ€ he whispered, โ€œwe canโ€™t just sit around and do nothing. We need to take action, or things will only get worse for you.โ€

โ€œDo you think I donโ€™t know that?โ€ Evelina snapped, looking up from the planning documents in her hands. Her eyes fixed on Zack. โ€œI have an idea, but Iโ€™m not sure if you have the guts to pull it off.โ€

โ€œTell me, Ms. Evelina.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re being sent back to your hometown tomorrow anyway. Why not get some revenge tonight before you go? Lemira is expecting me to deliver the revised plan. She wonโ€™t lock her door tonight.โ€

Evelinaโ€™s voice dripped with malice. โ€œPretend youโ€™re drunk and barge in. What you do after that is your choice.โ€

Zackโ€™s eyes gleamed, but he hesitated. โ€œIโ€™ve heard Ms. Lemira is quite capable.โ€

โ€œI know,โ€ Evelina replied. โ€œIโ€™ll have a maid bring her some milk laced with a little something extra. Later, Iโ€™ll check if sheโ€™s drunk it when I deliver the plan. She wonโ€™t be able to fight back by then.โ€

Just the thought of it made Evelina feel a sense of satisfaction. Once Lemira was disgraced, how would she hold her head up high again?

Zack hesitated. โ€œBut Iโ€™ll end up in jail for sure. How will I live without this job?โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t worry,โ€ Evelina assured him. โ€œIโ€™ll give you some money. You can claim you were drunk. Asher wonโ€™t want to cause a scandal by pressing charges. At most, youโ€™ll be thrown out.โ€

Evelinaโ€™s eyes sparkled with excitement. โ€œItโ€™s a win-win situation. Youโ€™ve been single all these years, and spending a night with Miss Lemira is quite the catch.โ€

โ€œTrue enough,โ€ Zack conceded, rubbing his hands together in anticipation. โ€œMs. Evelina, Iโ€™ve always admired you, though.โ€

โ€œIโ€™ve always seen you as a respected elder,โ€ Evelina replied, masking her disgust with a smile. โ€œI remember you saying that in the Langston family, weโ€™re all the same, and youโ€™d always be on my side. Does that still hold true?โ€

โ€œOf course,โ€ Zack affirmed, taking her hand. โ€œUnlike the Langston family, Iโ€™m loyal. Iโ€™ll always protect you.โ€

Evelina couldnโ€™t help but cringe at the sight of his graying hair. In the past, she had feared being ousted from the Langston family, so she had deliberately encouraged Zackโ€™s infatuation with her, which had been beneficial in many ways.

She withdrew her hand. โ€œGo have a drink and get ready. Iโ€™ll ring the bell when itโ€™s time.โ€

โ€œAlright,โ€ Zack agreed, kissing her hand before reluctantly leaving the room.

As soon as he left, Evelina rushed to the bathroom to wash her hands. Once Lemira was ruined, she would never have to endure Zackโ€™s presence again. Tonight, she would ensure Lemiraโ€™s downfall.

Evelina sent the revised plan to the foundationโ€™s assistant, giving the poor assistant a verbal lashing that finally brought her some relief.

A few hours later, Evelina, holding the revised documents, knocked on Lemiraโ€™s bedroom door. As expected, it was unlocked. Evelina entered.

Lemira was still engrossed in her video game. She glanced at Evelina with indifference. โ€œWait a minute. Iโ€™ll be done with this game soon.โ€

Evelina felt a twinge of annoyance and glanced at the empty milk glass on the table. Everything was going according to plan. Evelina smirked.

Not long after, Lemira yawned, looking groggy. She stood up. โ€œIโ€™ll look at it later. You can leave now.โ€

โ€œAlright, make sure to give it a good read,โ€ Evelina said with a triumphant smile, eager to leave the room and summon Zack.

She couldnโ€™t contain her excitement. โ€œLemira is done for.โ€

โ€œAre you so sure about that?โ€ A voice interrupted.
