Chapter 57
Lemira's gaze followed Orion as he pulled out his phone and stepped aside to make a call. She peeked from behind the corridor, ensuring Lucian wouldn't see her.
Once the call ended, Orion approached her with an air of superiority, his expression calm yet his tone sharp. "Let's go."
"Where to?"
"To enjoy the show."
Lemira accompanied him to the elevator, heading straight to the third floor. The dรฉcor here starkly contrasted with the lower levels. She couldn't help but steal glances at the man beside her. Rumor had it that the restaurant's third floor was reserved for members of a certain caliberโa status virtually no one in Lyria had achieved.
Yet, Orion seemed to breeze through, greeted with respect from the staff.
"I heard this level is off-limits to regular members," Lemira whispered.
"Yeah, I know."
Gazing at his profile, Lemira wondered how he managed such effortless access. She really wanted to know.
Lemira was lost in thought when Orion suddenly stopped, causing her to bump into his back. He glanced back, amusement in his eyes. "First, let's watch. I'll explain later."
Orion then turned and left. Lemira called out, "Where are you going?"
"To the restroom."
Lemira noticed he instead took the elevator downstairs, despite the restroom's proximity. Where was he heading?
She soon realized they were perfectly positioned to overlook the second-floor private room. Something felt off, and she saw Orion exiting the elevator, approaching Lucian and Evelina, who were speaking with a staff member. Lucian's discomfort was palpable as he led Evelina toward the elevator, only to find Orion waiting.
Lucian frowned. "What are you doing here? Did Lemira come to you?"
The restaurant's sudden clearing hinted at the arrival of a VIP. Despite the Langstons' significant influence in Lyria, the establishment's connections to the Orvin elite demanded reverence, even from them.
Evelina added fuel to the fire. "Impossible. Isn't this place members-only? How could a mere school doctor have access? Lemmy sneaked him in!"
Orion's impatience shone through. "Take her away."
Two staff members approached Evelina, who instinctively hid behind Lucian. "Lucian, I'm scared."
"What do you mean by this?" Lucian stood protectively in front of her.
"Exactly what it sounds like. She's too noisy; I wanted a word with you," Orion said, his expression utterly indifferent, his tone icy.
Lucian realized the other guests had left. He felt suspicious. Was this elaborate setup all for this school doctor? When Lemira had been with this doctor before, he'd even used the Langstons' resources and couldn't track her down. He'd secretly investigated the man's background but failed.
This man seemed mysterious, and Lucian wasn't sure if he had ulterior motives in getting close to Lemira. But it seemed improbable. After all, Lemira was a young girl, having never ventured beyond Lyria, unlikely to have crossed paths with anyone of significance.
Seeing an opportunity to uncover more about Lemira's connection with Orion, Lucian looked at Evelina. "Wait for me outside."
