Chapter 58

โ€œLucian,โ€

โ€œBe good!โ€

Evelina, though reluctant, had no choice but to leave. Lucian gave the school doctor before him another look. Something about his aura screamed that he wasnโ€™t just anybody.

โ€œWhereโ€™s Lemmy?โ€ Lucian asked.

โ€œIโ€™m under no obligation to tell you. But sheโ€™s under my watch, and I donโ€™t want you doing anything that could harm her before her exams.โ€

โ€œWhat do you mean by harming Lemmy? Sheโ€™s my sister; I would never hurt her. You, on the other hand, a mysterious school doctorโ€”what do you want with her?โ€

Lucian found this doctor intriguingly odd.

Orionโ€™s gaze was icy, sharp as a blade. โ€œThatโ€™s none of your concern.โ€

โ€œLemira is my sister; why wouldnโ€™t it be my concern?โ€

Lucian remembered this man had called the police last time, forcing Alaric to move out and stay away from Lemira.

Orion, hand in pocket, looked disdainfully at Lucian. โ€œLook after your adopted sister and spare me the fake compassion.โ€

The elevator doors opened, and a middle-aged man stepped out. Seeing him, Lucian quickly said, โ€œManager, thereโ€™s a suspicious person here.โ€ He hoped to learn more about the school doctor from the manager.

The middle-aged man, upon seeing Orion, treated him with utmost respect and turned to Lucian. โ€œMr. Langston, our diner has closed for the night; please leave.โ€

Lucian looked at Orion. โ€œWhat about him?โ€

โ€œMr. Langston, right this way, please,โ€ the manager said, ignoring Lucianโ€™s question.

Escorted politely by a server into the elevator, Lucian watched Orion, who stood still, his back to him. His silhouette was tall and proud. The manager bowed slightly, making it clear that Orion was no ordinary man.

Lucian suddenly thought of Lemira. When had she become involved with these people? Recalling Lemiraโ€™s departing figure and her recent changes, was it this man who had given her the courage to stand up to her family?

A headache threatened. He needed to investigate Orionโ€™s background. Otherwise, if Asher found outโ€”and Asher wasnโ€™t known for his patienceโ€”he had to sort this out quickly. Pulling out his phone, he found that Lemira hadnโ€™t answered his calls or texts.

Lemira watched Lucian leave, then looked up to see Orion walking out of the elevator, his stride slow and powerful, his gaze serene. โ€œTheyโ€™re gone.โ€

Lemira was amazed. โ€œHow did you manage that?โ€

Orion stopped in front of her. โ€œJust made a call to a friend.โ€

โ€œYour friend must be pretty influential to secure a membership here and even get the restaurant to kick people out.โ€

Orionโ€™s tone remained even. โ€œHeโ€™s alright.โ€

Lemiraโ€™s mood lifted considerably; her curiosity about Orion grew. โ€œWho is this friend?โ€ In Lyria, families capable of such feats were few.

Orion seemed reluctant. โ€œSomeone from Orvin.โ€

โ€œNo wonder, probably a super-rich heir then.โ€ Orvin was a hub of power and wealth, and for the past years, Asher had been building his empire there. Orvin University was the top school in Orvin.

Lemira looked at him curiously. โ€œSo, how do you know such affluent people? Were you classmates or something?โ€ Was he really just a simple school doctor?
