Chapter 58
โLucian,โ
โBe good!โ
Evelina, though reluctant, had no choice but to leave. Lucian gave the school doctor before him another look. Something about his aura screamed that he wasnโt just anybody.
โWhereโs Lemmy?โ Lucian asked.
โIโm under no obligation to tell you. But sheโs under my watch, and I donโt want you doing anything that could harm her before her exams.โ
โWhat do you mean by harming Lemmy? Sheโs my sister; I would never hurt her. You, on the other hand, a mysterious school doctorโwhat do you want with her?โ
Lucian found this doctor intriguingly odd.
Orionโs gaze was icy, sharp as a blade. โThatโs none of your concern.โ
โLemira is my sister; why wouldnโt it be my concern?โ
Lucian remembered this man had called the police last time, forcing Alaric to move out and stay away from Lemira.
Orion, hand in pocket, looked disdainfully at Lucian. โLook after your adopted sister and spare me the fake compassion.โ
The elevator doors opened, and a middle-aged man stepped out. Seeing him, Lucian quickly said, โManager, thereโs a suspicious person here.โ He hoped to learn more about the school doctor from the manager.
The middle-aged man, upon seeing Orion, treated him with utmost respect and turned to Lucian. โMr. Langston, our diner has closed for the night; please leave.โ
Lucian looked at Orion. โWhat about him?โ
โMr. Langston, right this way, please,โ the manager said, ignoring Lucianโs question.
Escorted politely by a server into the elevator, Lucian watched Orion, who stood still, his back to him. His silhouette was tall and proud. The manager bowed slightly, making it clear that Orion was no ordinary man.
Lucian suddenly thought of Lemira. When had she become involved with these people? Recalling Lemiraโs departing figure and her recent changes, was it this man who had given her the courage to stand up to her family?
A headache threatened. He needed to investigate Orionโs background. Otherwise, if Asher found outโand Asher wasnโt known for his patienceโhe had to sort this out quickly. Pulling out his phone, he found that Lemira hadnโt answered his calls or texts.
Lemira watched Lucian leave, then looked up to see Orion walking out of the elevator, his stride slow and powerful, his gaze serene. โTheyโre gone.โ
Lemira was amazed. โHow did you manage that?โ
Orion stopped in front of her. โJust made a call to a friend.โ
โYour friend must be pretty influential to secure a membership here and even get the restaurant to kick people out.โ
Orionโs tone remained even. โHeโs alright.โ
Lemiraโs mood lifted considerably; her curiosity about Orion grew. โWho is this friend?โ In Lyria, families capable of such feats were few.
Orion seemed reluctant. โSomeone from Orvin.โ
โNo wonder, probably a super-rich heir then.โ Orvin was a hub of power and wealth, and for the past years, Asher had been building his empire there. Orvin University was the top school in Orvin.
Lemira looked at him curiously. โSo, how do you know such affluent people? Were you classmates or something?โ Was he really just a simple school doctor?
