Chapter 93

Evelina had played the SweetLemon audio clip countless times. She was almost certain Lemira was the voice. But the livestream only showed hands and a keyboard, making identification impossible.

Panic surged. Had Alaric not recognized Lemira's voice?

"Eve, what are you doing standing out here? Isn't it hot?"

Alaric, having finished eating, emerged from his office to find Evelina alone in the hallway. Her expression was a mixture of emotions.

"Alaric, I was just watching the SweetLemon video. Did you finish watching it?" she asked. The streamer had spoken towards the end.

Alaric shook his head. "Didn't finish it, but I know enough to be sure she'll advance tomorrow. We need to sign her."

"Maric, have you looked into her? Her real name, what she looks like?" Evelina inquired.

"Couldn't find out. She's been dodging my contract offers. I thought she had her reasons. Seems like she's just trying to increase her value by streaming on PixelStage," Maric replied. Alaric was confident money would secure her signature eventually.

Alaric's confidence made Evelina question her suspicions. If SweetLemon was Lemira, she wouldn't have let Evelina easily outmaneuver her before. Perhaps it was just a similar voice. Evelina breathed a sigh of relief. It couldn't have been Lemira.

The next day, Lemira awoke without an alarm, checking her phone to find a few messages. Lucian had sent one: "Lemmy, what kind of part-time job are you doing? Is it tough? Why not come work at my company? It won't be too tiring." Lemira glanced at the message but didn't reply. She had to prepare for her live show.

In the next room, she found Orion on the balcony, on the phone.

Thaddeus, lounging on the couch, said lazily, "Sweet Lemon, up already? Your livestream last night blew up. You're going to have a ton of viewers tonight. Nervous?"

"A bit, but I'm not planning on losing," she replied confidently. Her gaze drifted towards Orion on the balcony, his hand on the railing, his figure tall and imposing.

Orion seemed to sense her gaze and looked back, their eyes meeting. His expression inscrutable, he muttered something into the phone before hanging up. Lemira quickly looked away, but saw him returning to the living room.

Orion announced, "I've got some errands to run later, might not be back tonight."

"Isn't school out for summer?" Lemira asked impulsively.

Thaddeus coughed. "Yeah, well, there are some business matters I need Orion's help with." Knowing Thaddeus's wealthy background, Lemira didn't press further.

During lunch, Lemira received a call from PixelStage. "Hello, I'm in charge at PixelStage. Are you SweetLemon?"

"Yes, that's me."

"We're really interested in your potential and would like to discuss signing a contract. Could you add me on WhatsApp so I can send you the contract and some other information?"

After hanging up, Lemira looked at Orion. "PixelStage contacted me."

Thaddeus quickly advised, "Don't agree to anything yet. Wait until after your livestream tonight, then talk terms. We can't let those corporate sharks exploit you!"

One of those "corporate sharks" was right there in the room.
