Chapter 27

The phone rang twice before abruptly disconnecting. It was clear that Christian had blocked Amaya’s number. Julie couldn’t help but twitch her lips. Although it was their first meeting, her impression of Christian wasn’t great. The first time they met, he tried to get her number behind Amaya’s back. He wasn’t clearly a fit, but she hadn’t expected him to be unfaithful and unreliable. Even if he didn’t want to pay, there was no need to block her number so decisively, especially when Amaya was injured and in the hospital. He could at least put on a front, even if he was scared, but instead, he just ran off without a second thought.

“Maya, does he not know you have money?” That was the only explanation Julie could think of. Amaya shrugged. “He probably doesn’t know.”

When she started dating Christian, she never made a point of telling him she was rich. Unlike other wealthy young ladies, she cared little about luxury goods. As long as she liked something, whether cheap or expensive, she’d treat it like a treasure. As for Christian, she knew he wasn’t in the best situation. Apart from his looks, he didn’t have much going for him, but she just liked him. As long as Christian liked her, she didn’t mind supporting him. After all, she wasn’t lacking in money. But she hadn’t expected him to be so cowardly. He couldn’t even muster the courage to break up with her directly. Instead, he ran off while she was unconscious and blocked her number. It seemed that young guys only had their youth going for them…

The more Amaya thought about it, the angrier she got. “Alright, stop crying. Things will get better,” Julie said, trying to comfort her. Amaya sniffled, tears still falling. “But I really liked him.” Julie rubbed her forehead. “When did you get so lovesick?”

Just then, a male voice from outside the hospital ward swore loudly. “Damn it! What bad luck! Crashed the car the moment I stepped out.” “I told you, it’s not that I didn’t go to pick you up. It’s because I went to pick you up that the accident happened.” “You called the emergency hotline faster than I did.” “Alright, I’m going to deal with the little jerk with the bike who hit my brand-new car. If I don’t send him in, I’ll drop Chandler as my family name.”

The door to the hospital ward swung open. Julie turned her head and saw Blaine standing there, his head wrapped in bandages as he held a phone. Bodyguards followed him in matching uniforms. Julie might have been intimidated by the scene if she hadn’t known him.

“So, it was you who crashed into my car! Do you know who I—” Before he could finish, Blaine froze when he saw Julie. “Huh, Julie, what are you doing here? Luce isn’t in this ward.”

Now, Julie understood. Christian crashed Blaine’s car. Of all the people to hit, why did it have to be this guy? Julie’s gaze landed on his forehead, where the bandages were still soaked with blood. “Are you okay?” Blaine shook his head, feeling a dull pain in his head. He muttered under his breath, “That damn bastard crashed into my car, injuring me.”

Amaya shrank behind Julie, too scared to show herself. She could tell from his tone that he had a bad temper and was definitely not someone to mess with. She hesitated before speaking. “Mister, I’ll pay for everything. Can you leave now?”

Blaine finally noticed Amaya hiding behind Julie. His eyes narrowed slightly. “I remember the one who crashed into me was a little punk. When did it turn into a woman?” Julie awkwardly smiled. “The guy’s old.” “What a bastard.”

Julie’s lips twitched as she tentatively asked, “Mister, is your car alright?” When Blaine heard her address him as “Mister,” he found it strange. Sure enough, Julie added the next moment, “My friend didn’t mean for this to happen. Could you not involve the…” Clearly, no one would call him that respectfully without a reason. As soon as she said that, he knew he would be losing a few million dollars.

Blaine grinned. “Julie, do you know what kind of state my car is in?” Julie shook her head. Blaine pulled out his phone, opened a photo, and showed it to her.
