Chapter 61

“Maya, where are you going?” Jule shouted.

Amaya, humbled, changed into her shoes in a rush and gritted her teeth. “I’m going to find that heartless jerk and settle the score!”

Hearing this, Julie panicked, spreading her arms wide to block her. “It’s pitch-dark outside, and you’ve just been discharged from the hospital. Your leg hasn’t healed yet, so why do you need to go to him now?”

Amaya froze, as if snapping back to reality. “You’re right. With my leg like this, I can’t exactly kick him yet.”

Her sharp gaze landed on Julie. “You’re coming with me, Jules. And when we find him, you’ll give him a good beating for me.”

Julie looked at her utterly helplessly. “Don’t be impulsive, Maya. Let’s talk this through, alright?”

Amaya’s eyes flared as she bristled with anger. “No way! That jerk needs to be taught a lesson immediately!”

Julie tried to calm her down. “Alright. Let’s just cool down first, alright?”

But Amaya was having none of it. “Cool down, my ass! That jerk spent my money partying at the club and hitting on a bunch of girls! Then, he turns around saying he’s had enough and wants to break up! What a load of crap!”

With that, she slipped on her shoes and strode toward the door without another word.

Julie couldn’t let her go alone. She stopped talking to Lucian and quickly hung up the call.

Throughout the cab ride, she kept trying to dissuade Amaya from starting a fight or causing trouble. They were just two women, and things could easily go sideways.

Amaya remained silent throughout the ride, so Julie sighed and decided not to push further.

An hour later, the cab came to a steady stop outside the nightclub. This was the peak hour for nightlife, and Amaya stormed toward the entrance as soon as she stepped out of the cab.

“Maya, calm down! Don’t be impulsive!” Julie called after her, catching up in a few quick strides to grab her arm tightly.

“Relax. I promise I won’t make a scene. I just want to talk to him and end things cleanly,” Amaya said, feigning nonchalance.

Yet, Julie still felt uneasy. “No fighting and yelling.”

Amaya nodded and walked into the club.

This wasn’t Julie’s first time here. Thanks to Zayn, she’d been to this place a couple of times, so she was quite familiar with the layout. She’d never expected to run into an acquaintance, but they weren’t too close, and she hadn’t seen him in a while. It was one of Zayn’s lackeys, Talan Schmitt.

When Talan spotted Julie, an ambiguous smirk spread across his face. Julie ignored him completely and followed Amaya to the VIP room where Christian was.

After they opened the door, the room was filled with loud music and chatter. Christian sat in the main seat, leaning lazily on the couch with a glass of wine in hand.

When his gaze landed on Amaya, he raised an eyebrow slightly and gestured for someone to turn off the music. The room fell silent in an instant.

He got up, a faint smile playing on his lips. Then, he strolled over to Amaya with light, casual steps and stopped before her.

His smirk deepened as he softly called out, “Amaya…”

Before he could finish his sentence, Amaya suddenly raised her hand and slapped him hard across the face.
