Chapter 11

“I studied applied chemistry in a relatively common university,” Stella wiped her tears and explained. “I had hoped to work hard to get into grad school and attend a top university. But I don’t have what it takes. The average pay in the industry isn’t the greatest. Plus, I really don’t want to work in a factory.”

Aurora gazed at Stella before handing her a tissue. “Can I have a look at your resume?”

“Sure.” Stella sobbed before handing her resume to Aurora while taking the tissue.

Aurora flipped through the resume.

“Are you interested in working in an industrial chemical company?” Aurora asked. “Looking at your resume, you should work in research and development.”

“You think?” Stella asked in return. “I’m interested in research and development. But it’s not easy to get into this department in most companies, especially considering my educational background.”

“It’s not that difficult as long as you can get your work done. Besides, it suits your field of expertise,” Aurora calmly replied.

She took a pen from Stella’s pocket and wrote some words and a phone number on the resume.

“Try this company and look directly for their HR department. You can call this number and show him your resume,” Aurora said as she returned the resume to Stella.

Stella looked at the resume and saw two lines written elegantly: “Manager of Apex Chemical Solutions Research and Development, Aaron Blakely, (0)5955-6996. Aurora Beed*”

Stella hesitantly looked at Aurora, struggling to find words.

“Never live, never know. Their pay and working environment are pretty decent,” Aurora said before leaving gracefully. Her slender body walked past Stella.

“Aurora, you bitch! Stand right there! How dare you leave after harming Whitney this much! I’ll bring this to the court! Don’t you dare to leave!” Linna shouted as she approached after helping the disheveled Whitney up from the ground.

“Well, I’ll wait for the notice from your lawyer. I filmed what happened earlier with my phone. If I ever see you two bullying Stella again, I’ll post the video online. Let’s see who’s the one to crumble under the pressure of public opinion!” Aurora said coldly before disappearing into the corner of the road.

Linna was stunned and immediately turned toward Whitney. Whitney was equally frozen. Her lowered eyes concealed the wickedness within.

As she observed how disheveled she had become—with the bottom of her white dress torn, her makeup a mess, and her arms covered with stinging bruises—she thought, “Just wait, Aurora! One day, I’ll make you fall from grace and suffer a fate worse than death!”

“What should we do, Whitney? That damn bitch is too evil! She’s clearly picking on you! Let me call Sidney, I’ll show him what kind of person that damn Aurora Indy is!” Linna said as she flipped through her bag for her phone.

“It’s okay, Linna.” Whitney sobbed while tugging Linna. “I’m already used to it. To her, I’m just a thief who took everything from her and should never have existed.”

“How is that okay? Are you not aware of the state you’re in because of her bullying?” Linna exclaimed. “Sidney will be so heartbroken if he finds out about this! How could someone like her be a Klein?”

“Just let it be. Don’t talk about Aurora like that. She’s still a Klein. I don’t want to cause any more shame to the Klein family,” Whitney replied.

“You’re too kind, Whitney! You’ve spoiled her so much that she’ll become even more arrogant in the future! Are you really just going to take the blame without speaking up?” Linna said.

Of course, Whitney wouldn’t. She would soon make Aurora regret what she had done!

A didn’t drive too much into the commotion earlier. However, she saw Sidney waiting downstairs at the Department of Physics in the evening.

Sidney, standing afar, saw Aurora calmly walking toward him with a textbook and thermos. The sight suddenly reminded him of the past.

Many years ago, Aurora, wearing a dark-colored school uniform and with her hair styled into a bun, would quietly walk past the field carrying her bag. The boys, including Sidney, would always stop their basketball games to stare at her, but every time, she seemed like she didn’t even notice them.

Anzora, or rather Elaine Klein, as she was back then, was gorgeous, intelligent, and constantly winning prizes in different competitions. Not only was she excellent in all fields, but she was also quiet and graceful. Undoubtedly, she was the dream girl of many boys.

The Gamer went for Sidney. Although he wasn’t as passionate as the other boys on the surface, he had already fallen for Elaine a long time ago. He had even imagined what their marriage would look like and their lives after the marriage.

“Hey, Aurora,” Sidney regained his senses and called.

“Hello, Mr. Sonder. How can I help you?” Aurora stopped and gazed at Sidney approaching.

She sounded cold and distant, even more unapproachable than in the past. It tugged at Sidney’s heartstrings. For a moment, he felt an indescribable sense of…

“Why did you bully Whitney?” Sidney asked. “Let it slide last time, but this time, you’ve gone too far. Whitney sprained her ankle and is in the hospital. How did you become like this? Ignoring the Klein family’s gratitude for you, are you truly unable to stand having a rival like Whitney in your life?”

Sidney’s voice was filled with hatred and disappointment.

“So, you’re here to seek justice for her, huh?” Aurora scoffed.

“I thought we had already ended our relationship in the past. I’m the one who wronged you. You should be directing your anger at me. Why drag Whitney into this?” Sidney asked.

He continued, “Our marriage was originally an alliance between the Sanders and the Kleins. But things just didn’t work out for us. Why can’t we let go of the grudges?”

We just let go of all of… e Aurora becoming more and more radical. After all, it wasn’t a big deal to begin with. They were still family in the end. What was the point… Sidney didn’t wish to see… of causing all this fuss?

“I wouldn’t have touched your woman if she didn’t bully someone,” Aurora replied.

“Whitney didn’t mean to do it. She was too naive and blunt,” Sidney defended her. “She doesn’t know how to maintain a relationship. She just wanted to help Stella, but Stella was hostile to her because of you. Stella and Whitney are cousins. Do you think Whitney would ever treat her badly?”

Sidney refused to believe Whitney would bully Stella.

Aurora chuckled. It was just as she expected. It wasn’t like she didn’t want to explain, but Sidney was clearly biased toward Whitney. Whatever Aurora tried to say, he would never believe it was Whitney’s fault. And if anyone were to blame, it would never be Whitney but Aurora.
