Chapter 891
Donald couldnโt take it anymore. โJonathan and Teresa are back together, and sheโs pregnant. Making things difficult will only cause trouble for Jonathan. Please let Jennifer go. Iโll apologize on her behalf.โ
โDonald, stop. Donโt be her,โ Jennifer, sitting on the chair in handcuffs, shouted. โDonโt waste your breath on people like her!โ
โSee?โ Irene said, โEven at the police station, Jennifer is so arrogant. What if I let her go and she hits me again?โ
Teresa clenched her fists. She took a deep breath and was about to say something.
โTeresa, donโt you beg her either.โ Jennifer had already seen through Teresa. She glared at Teresa and said, โDonโt give in to her, Iโll be fine. Donโt beg her. Itโs not worth it.โ
Teresaโs eyes burned red. She glanced at Jennifer and said, โIโm not begging her.โ Then she turned to Irene. โDo you want me to tell everyone what you did?โ
Irene panicked. โWhat do you mean?โ She thought, โCould Teresa know about Jonathanโs dadโs death? No, thatโs impossible.โ
Teresa said slowly, โHave you forgotten? When Jennifer resigned from the hospital, you hired some middle-aged women to beat her up in the parking lot.โ
Jenniferโs expression darkened instantly as if she wanted to tear Irene apart. She remembered that Teresa even hugged her and took a hit for her.
Irene argued, โWhat are you talking about? Do you have any proof?โ
Teresa said, โIt was on the day you took Mike away. You bragged about it to him. The next day, he asked me why you sent people to beat Jennifer. Do you know how embarrassed I felt for you? I just told him he misheard.โ
After saying this, Teresa saw Ireneโs expression change dramatically.
Teresa took a deep breath. โI planned to act like this never happened. I didnโt even tell Jonathan because I didnโt want him to worry, but what have you done? How many dirty moves will you keep pulling?โ
Irene completely broke down. Teresa had just called her out in public โ right at the police station, with Donald watching.
Irene felt utterly humiliated. She cried and shouted, hitting Teresa. โItโs all your fault. You took my son and my grandchild away from me. I hate you.โ
Since they were at the police station, Irene didnโt actually dare to hurt Teresa. She was just putting on an act.
Even so, Teresa was done putting up with Irene.
She shoved Irene away impatiently and said, โStop embarrassing yourself. Jennifer shouldnโt have hit you, and Iโll pay your medical bills. Just let her go, or weโll hold you accountable for hiring people to assault her.โ
Irene gritted her teeth. She had no choice but to back down this time, yet as someone much older, she felt extremely humiliated.
After thinking for a moment, she said, โFine. Have Jennifer apologize to me, and Iโll let her go.โ
Teresa said, โShouldnโt you apologize to her first before we apologize to you?โ
โWhy should I apologize to her? Thatโs impossible!โ Irene snapped.
โWell, if youโre not going to apologize, then neither are we. Weโll just pay your medical bills, and thatโs it,โ Teresa stayed calm.
Irene was furious. โHow are you gonna pay my medical bills? Isnโt that all the money from my son you took?โ
Teresa sneered and said, โI can cover your medical bills just fine.โ
The two were at a deadlock when Jonathan called Teresa.
Teresa only briefly told him that she was at the police station and hung up.
Irene panicked at once, her lips trembling. โYou did it on purpose, didnโt you? You deliberately told Jonathan you were at the police station so heโd come.โ
Teresa said, โWhy couldnโt I say Iโm at the police station? I was just telling the truth. Besides, heโll come to bail you out for that wound you wanted.โ
Irene was at a loss for words.
Not long after, Jonathan showed up with Benny right behind him. He strode over to Teresa, looking at her anxiously. โAre you okay?โ
Irene was about to explode. She thought, โDidnโt he see me? Come on, my face is still swollen. How could he just ignore me and care about Teresa?โ
โWhat am I supposed to do?โ Irene collapsed to the floor and wailed, โShe got away with hitting me. No, I canโt take it anymore.โ
It was only then that Jonathan noticed Ireneโs wounded face. He walked over and helped her up from the floor. โWhat happened to your face?โ
โIt was Jennifer,โ Irene said.
โJonathan, hereโs the thing-โ Donald explained the whole story, including how Irene had hired people to attack Jennifer.
Irene scolded Donald for taking someone elseโs side over his own family. Then she launched into another performance. โIโve been treated so unfairly by the women of the Johnston family. Why did they do this to me? Teresa, canโt you leave my son alone?โ
Teresa, furious, nudged Jonathan toward Irene. โSure. Take him away.โ She thought, โIโm done with this crazy woman. Take your son and fuck off.โ
โSir, can we leave now?โ Donald asked.
โYeah, youโre free to go.โ The police officer rubbed his forehead, tired of all the family drama.
โLetโs go,โ Donald said, helping Jennifer up.
Teresa was about to leave, too, when Jonathan grabbed her arm. โWait a second. The driver will take you home. I have something to tell you later.โ
Teresa didnโt say a word. She just pulled her arm out of Jonathanโs grip with a blank face.
At that moment, Jonathan felt the distance between him and Teresa grew wider โ like an unbreakable barrier had sprung up between them.
Meanwhile, Irene was crying loudly but without shedding a single tear.
โAre you done crying? Wipe your tears and get up. Stop embarrassing yourself here,โ Jonathan said coldly.
Irene pointed at her face. โAre you just going to let her get away with this? She ruined my face.โ
โYou sent people to attack her, too. Youโre now even,โ Jonathan said coldly, then stormed out, clearly annoyed.
After Jonathan left, Benny sighed and helped Irene get up. โMrs. Lynn, be careful.โ
Irene refused to get up, clearly playing the victim.
All of a sudden, the door swung open and someone walked in from outside.
