Chapter 930
Since Teresa was flying out the next morning, Miriam hurried back tonight to check on her. When she saw that Teresa was safe and sound, Miriam let out a sigh of relief.
โItโs probably a good thing youโre leaving Nareigh. From what I see, Irene wonโt rest until she gets Jonathan thrown behind bars,โ Miriam said.
Teresa looked confused. She wondered, โWhat does this mean? Why would Irene want to see Jonathan end up in jail?โ
โDonโt you know that? I heard from Edward that the whole mess at Jonathanโs company was caused by one of Edwardโs uncles. Jonathan wanted to send the person to a branch office ages ago, but Edwardโs mother begged Irene to stop Jonathan,โ Miriam explained.
Teresa finally got it and was left speechless. She remembered Benny once mentioning there was a traitor inside Horizontead Group.
Back then, she had wondered why Jonathan would let someone with bad intentions stay by his side after everything he had been through.
Teresa was surprised that it would be one of their own stabbing them in the back, and that one turned out to be from Ireneโs side.
Miriam clicked her tongue and said, โLuckily, Edward isnโt close with that uncle of his. Right now, Edwardโs dad is running around trying to pull strings so his brother gets a lighter sentence, but Jonathan is not going to let Edwardโs uncle off easy.โ
Miriam took a sip of water to moisten her throat and continued, โSo, donโt remarry Jonathan for real. With such a mother of his, itโs only a matter of time before she causes some huge mess. You donโt want to get dragged into it.โ
Teresa wasnโt afraid of getting caught up in Jonathanโs troubles. If Irene could truly accept her and treat her kindly, Teresa would be more than willing to stand united with Jonathan as his wife.
But reality was nothing like that. Every time Teresa said she loved Jonathan, Irene would just sneer at her. Whenever she said she cared about Jon, Irene would simply say she didnโt buy it.
After Teresa was insulted and blamed by Irene like that, she wouldnโt go out of her way to cling to Irene. Even though Teresa loved Jonathan, it wasnโt to the point where she would lose her mind.
The closer she got to Jonathan, the more Irene would look down on her. But Teresa had her pride and self-respect. She wasnโt the type who couldnโt live without love.
Teresa had meant it when she said that she and Jonathan would go their separate ways after the baby was born. She wasnโt going to let the people around Jonathan or her mess with her life anymore. They could all go their own way.
โHold on,โ Teresa came back to her senses. โMiriam, how did you know my remarriage is just for show?โ
Teresa had never mentioned it to Miriam before.
Miriam gave her a helpless look. โOh, come on. Donโt I know you? Anyone with eyes can see you two are just acting, especially you. You donโt even have a hint of happiness about getting back together.โ
Teresa knew she couldnโt fool Miriam, so she spilled the whole story about what had been going on lately.
Miriam sighed and said, โThis is good. Since Jonathanโs mother stirred up all this mess, let the family handle it. You just focus on your baby in peace, and after that, letโs live our own lives and shine. Iโll be right there shining with you.โ
โHow exactly are you going to shine with me?โ Teresa asked.
โIf Edwardโs mom doesnโt like me, no matter how much I love him, thereโs no way Iโd marry him. Iโm serious. I know the difference between dating and marriage,โ Miriam said.
Miriam was pretty clear-headed. She was living in the moment, not worrying about the future. At least for now, she and Edward were in love and lived in happiness.
โAlright. Enough about all that. Let me help you pack, and tomorrow Iโll go to the airport with you to see you off,โ Miriam said.
Teresa nodded.
After Miriam had left, someone else came knocking at the door before long.
