Chapter 107
Miranda felt cold and shivered in the sea breeze. She sneezed. Winter noticed Dave and Tim shirking their responsibilities and had planned to address it, but Miranda's coughing and sneezing prompted her to prioritize getting Miranda to the hospital via rescue copter.
At the hospital, a nurse provided Miranda with dry clothes, noticing she was soaked. Worried about a possible arm injury, Winter urged the doctor to thoroughly examine it. Fortunately, Miranda only suffered a minor sprain and would recover in two days. After receiving anti-inflammatory ointment, they returned to the hotel.
Winter confronted the hotel staff responsible for the deep-diving service. Though polite, the staff offered excuses and refused to accept responsibility. Hansel arrived during their argument, learning about Miranda's diving accident. He was frightened by the near-fatal incident, imagining Miranda's terror; she was timid and often called him for comfort before sleeping.
He wanted to comfort her, but saw Sam already attending to her, seemingly trying to win her favor. Anger briefly flared in Hansel, but he composed himself and approached them.
"Mimi, I heard what happened," he said. "It's dangerous underwater; unnoticed wounds could be problematic. Johnson Group has a private hospital in Malenor. Should I take you for a full body checkup?"
Sam looked up, calmly replying, "Her hospital report is on the table. This city-center hospital is quite good; another examination is unnecessary. Mimi needs rest, not more tests. You're inconsiderate. You never know what women need most."
Hansel smirked, glancing at the report. "It's a small facility. How accurate are the results? Johnson Group's medical centers have first-class equipment. A thorough checkup would take less than half an hour, offering peace of mind."
Sam retorted, "I don't want to argue. If you're concerned, let her rest."
"How am I not concerned? You're arrogant! Miranda isn't your staff; she doesn't have to prioritize your instructions."
Their argument escalated, giving Miranda a headache. She retreated to her room.
In the darkness, Miranda looked around in confusion. A dim light surrounded her, her body swaying with it. She felt uncomfortable and heavy, her limbs feeling weighted, as if rocks were tied to them. She felt herself being dragged down, fearing she would plunge into an abyss. This fear jolted her awake.
